OK, let the deragotory comments begin...maybe I'm just getting to be "an old man", but I don't get burnout contests.
Watching that didn't "do anything for me", and I hated seeing the ZO6 used for that, resulting in some minor damage. I don't know...I just don't get it I guess.

The cool thing is if you burnout just long enough to cover your car in smoke, you can get a headstart towards a parking structure of a skyscraper plaza and be out ofr sight before the cop can start after you. =P

I don't quite understand the point of the contests, but watching a burnout(not to that extreme) is pretty neat.

Well, the guy that did that (I think it was him)- he owns the Corvette factory, and buys one yearly. Constantly upgrades.

I like a good burnout when it involves dumping the clutch or just standing on it in an automatic and smoking 'em while you're launching, but to sit there and smoke 'em in a car like this is quite a bit excessive. Now if it was a POS, who cares, abuse the snot out of the vehicle and the tires, who cares.

I actually like seeing cars cover themselves in a cloud and drive out of it. Think Wizard of Oz when the man behind the curtain comes out of the smoke. You certainly don't expect it. Now replace the man behind the curtain with someone like Hannibal and that's the shiznit right there!

I read the comments and the guy who posted it said the car was a preproduction model destined to be destroyed anyway. So at least it went out in a blaze of glory, or if not a blaze then at least a cloud of smoke

I like a good burnout. It's the raw power that engulfes my senses. The sight of the smoke making the car "dissappear", the sound of the engine rowing up into second/third/and in one case at an SLP race day, 4th GEAR, the smell of burning rubber, and the entire feeling I get when it happens.
I know...doesn't make sense to some folks. No problem. But, put all of that together and it's pretty cool, IMHO. Here's the guy at SLP raceday in Ennis a couple years back. I only wished I had video of it. I'll check youtube and see if someone posted it up. Look closely in the second picture and you'll see he still has his left hand up like this...

Yeah, the smoke is cool, I could just do without the smell and the damage. If the car was destined for destruction anyway, I could think of some much more fun things to do to it...
And I think, in the picture, the guy's doing one of these |
