Alabama governor signs nation's toughest immigration law.

In my book it is about time American's did something as our nation is going broke and crime is out of control in many parts of the country.

Under the new measure, police must detain someone they suspect of being in the country illegally if the person cannot produce proper documentation when stopped for any reason.

It also will be a crime to knowingly transport or harbor someone who is in the country illegally. The law imposes penalties on businesses that knowingly employ someone without legal resident status. A company's business license could be suspended or revoked.

The law requires Alabama businesses to use a database called E-Verify to confirm the immigration status of new employees.

"We have a real problem with illegal immigration in this country," Bentley said after signing the law. "I campaigned for the toughest immigration laws and I'm proud of the Legislature for working tirelessly to create the strongest immigration bill in the country."

Should be fun to watch the Feds come after us now.

Actually we're doing the business part here. We have an employer sactions law that the Supreme Court just upheld. All those places decrying unfair treatment of criminals, please take some more off our hands.
BTW another rancher killed on the border the other day. This time in New Mexico.

That's what I mean by the Feds will be gunning for Bama now.

I always said that it should be a big ass fine for a business to get caught with illegals.

And I mean to the tune of 150k fine PER. Unless they can show they checked a minimum amount of resources to check citizenship.

Not that I am against this but how is this going to save money? If anything its going to cost Alabama more money.

I don't think so in the long run. After all the places that are pro-illegal like California are also unwelcome to business.

How do you figure. They aren't hiring anyone. Just making it easier for the cops to nab the illegals. Plus, it opens up a job. By which a legal is hired and pays taxes. AND gets them off of Alabama welfare and hospice.

I submit that it will GENERATE money.

Sorry, but the two have very little to do with immigration.

BTW, it won't last too long. This is unconstitutional.
You cannot detain annyone based on race, gender, sex, or age.

Depends on how it's written.

They ask for a drivers license and you can't provide one, then maybe they CAN detain you. Or at least go the next step. I have to read the bill before I can pass judgement.

However, there must be a stand taken.

But if they are already stopped for another crime??? That is the premise of the whole thing. If a Police officer stops you for a violation and you cannot produce identification isn't that a promlem? Every time i have been stopped i have been asked for my ID.
The police dont have enough time or manpower to just stop people for no reason
I have no problem giving my id. Bottom line is the people against aren't really afraid of discrimination. They're afraid of more illegals being sent back.

Where does the money come from to process them and push them through the system? Not to mention you are give the officers power to decided when or when not to haul someone in. This is going to bring up some racial suits, I can see it now.
