Ferrari 348 GTB or Loaded 2SS?
There's an ad around where I live for a 1990 Ferrari 348 GTB for 44,900 with lower miles. I figure I could either get that, or a loaded Camaro with some aftermarket stuff. I've always wanted a 348, and the only problem is that it's red, so I'll look like a d***. I'm willing to take that chance though!

Just an FYI my brother owns an 89 512 and the cost of repair is huge. He had an oil leak and the seal was $50.00 the labor to fix it was almost $2000. Just keep that in mind. Don't get me wrong Ferrari are way cool, but that's some of the reason's that you get them cheep is due to cost of repairs and ongoing maintenance. He does a lot of the repairs him self and loves the car, but he even said that it's the more costly performance car he owns and that's comparing the 911 he races.

If you have the money for the upkeep go for the Ferrari.

I was thinking about the repair costs and everything too. I think it would be fun though. I definetly would want to upgrade the drivetrain for reliablility. If I got it I would want to drive it at least once a week, and maybe more in the spring/summer, possibly some light track time.

You have no idea what you would be getting yourself into. I nearly bought a mint condition 328 GTS with only 10k on it and I did a lot of investigating before I did. And boy am I glad. "Expensive to maintain" is a huge understatement.
Oil change will cost your a fortune. God forbid you ever burn the clutch out (which you will b4 20k miles) because they must pull the engine to replace...easy $10k job.

Id spend the money on a Z06 if you're into that type of thing and want to blow too much money. It will go better than the ferrari, and it wont kill you in upkeep. Aren't you wondering why they sell ferrari's for so little??

A tick over 13.0 sec. and you're through the quarter-mile. It's a rush, of course, but not overly dramatic. Try the same thing with this pair's predecessors of 1970 or so and you'll find yourself in a bit of a wrestling match. Ain't progress wonderful? Maybe yes, and maybe sometimes it's fun to wrestle."

If I could find a 355 for the price of my 2SS/RS vert, I'd take the 355.
If you have always wanted a 348, get the 348. |
