Work full time and go to a 2 year college first part time. You'll save so much money instead of incuring the debt of a 4 year college right off the bat. Working right out the gate will teach you the value of a dollar and will give you a work ethic. I've seen it time and again when people come out of college with their 4 year and can't hack it in the work place due to no experience. Don't do stupid shit like run up credit card bills, but make sure you establish credit early so you can buy later (houses, cars). Kids these days are coddled and soft even compared to the last generation, its how their parents raised them.... Take it from a guy with no 4 four year degree who is 28 and District Loss Prevention Manager. I got lucky and found what I was good at when I was 18 and made a career out of it following the formula described above.

I might ad that a lot of people have done the military to get around the cost of 4 year college with the G.I. bill, might also be worth looking into.

Worked a yr. Then went and got my Parts Management. Worked in that for 7yrs, when i stopped my best yr was 50g/yr, started in the oil field with no experience 5yrs ago now making just shy of 100g's working 6months a yr. I never regret getting my parts management b/c when i am to old to work in the oil that will be a nice job. Plus it helps me run my performance parts business out of my shop on my days off. I do all my own paper work, tax filing and everything so it was good experience.

I immediately went to college with the intention of becoming an aerospace engineer. I listened to many people that it is a slowing industry so I switch my major to Accounting and Computer Science. I graduated and started in the work force. I finally decided I preferred the challenge and frequent atmosphere change of consulting and have been doing that for 15 years now. I now am a partner in a consulting company and coupdl not be happier with my path after high school.

I went to A&P School (Airframe & Powerplant) in Dallas and got my license to work on Airplanes. I got a job right out of school and moved to Ypsilanti, MI and started my career to work on Airplanes. I traveled around a bit (Houston twice and Florida) and when I finally started my family, I got out of the aircraft industry and moved into the auto industry (Tech, Service Writer, Service Manager, Store Manager) and now I am the IT Director for the same company. I have been doing this for about 14 years now..

I went to college with the intent on joining the Air Force as an Officer. I recieved my commission last year and am know working as an Intelligence Officer.

I HATED College, but if thats what it takes to get where you want to do, stick it out. If you're going to college just to go, I would recommend finding out what you want to do soon, otherwise you'll be a college grad in 8 years and with nowhere to use your degree.

I was building car audio systems (1988) and thought that was gong to be my career. eventually that wasn't going to cut it long term so I went to college at age 26 and started my current career of 10 years now as a civil enginnering design tech. let me give you or anyone in your situation a bit of advise. research some directions you could see yourself doing long term and what type of incomes they have the potential of. also look at the future that carreer might hold as far as will it be around in 20 or 30 years. then study your ass off to learn it. dont waste your early years doing bullshit jobs. trust me

I tried college for about 3 months. Realized it wasn't for me. I joined the Coast Guard a few months after that. Now 16 years later, I'm still in the Service, and I've started taking my college again.
