While I do realize the most likely reason for the SS sedan having the LS3 vs. the L99 is a matter of volume. I, for one, would've rather paid a GG tax to have the same engine (w/o AFM) as the manual Camaro. Unfortunately, we weren't given that option (in a way, I can sympathize with the folks that are pissed off about the sedan not offering a manual).

I personally don't mind having an auto in a performance car, Hell, I have an automatic Camaro SS. Also, while I won't be able to buy this model year, I may be able to in MY 15 or 16 (assuming, of course the SS sedan sticks around that long).

Doubtful. The only reason the L99 exists is because of CAFE. The new SS is a low production car.

A car Chevy should have made 5 years ago, with the same styling it would have had 5 years ago.

I like this car looks like a sleeper since its not too aggressive. I like flying under the radar most of the time. Six speed auto not mad about that either prolly geared pretty good i would think. The rear end isnt as aggressive as i like it seems like the difuser is too soft i hope the aftermarket will address that and i bet this thing will look great dropped a inch or two. Interior seems all buick to me as well not a bad thing though since i like buicks interiors as of late. Still i hope pricing wont be outrageous 45k and above even with all the standard stuff still wont be worth it IMO. If in 2016 this is still around and not over 40k i might like this for a commuter car.

If only starting msrp would be at low-mid 30ks (or say 36k tops) then I'd think it'd be a great bang for the buck. Based on the hero card spec sheet I posted earlier as seen on Chevy's website, the lone option for now is a sunroof.

+1, and it also shows how plain the SS looks by comparison. But, its a sedan with a different target market.

I'm with you, but this car will have to be well North of 40K. It would be a HUGE bang for the buck at low to mid 30s.

1st - GXP started at $39,000 and went up. This is a GXP with upgrades in interior and technology features.

2nd - Competition. This car will compete with the SRT8s from Fiat. Dodge and Chryslers SRTs start around 45 and go up from there. The 300 can be optioned up to $57,000 but arguably that is more Cadillac competitor at that point.

3rd - It has to be priced higher than the Impala or it will steal Impala volume. Impala LTZ starts at $36,000 and it doesn't have the chassis, brakes or powertrain that the SS has. Arguably the Impala still has a nicer interior.

4th - A Camaro SS without any special pacages (1LE or Hot Wheels) will run you about $39,000. This car will cost more simply for the rear doors and added technology features.

5th - Australian $ will cost you $1.04 U.S. so add 4%. At $40,000, that's an extra $1,600.

6th - Shipping. Putting a car on a boat from Australia and THENNNNNNN putting it on the truck to ship within the U.S. is not cheap. That is somewhere between $500 and $1,000 (This is why the Asian and European OEMs are bulding plants in the U.S. by the way. Not because they like us or because they want Americans to have jobs over their coutrymen. It's simply because they can make more money. And for the Germans our labor rate is cheaper so even more profit for them)

All in all shipping it here from Australia probably tacks on $2,000 just for currency rates and ocean shipping.

As it was mentioned before the SS will be a limited production, no more than 5 to 10 thousand a year. It's not going to affect the CAFE of GM as much as a high volumn car like the Camaro would.
