Never cared for either Saleen or Roush. Overpriced, IMO, and I really don't care about "exclusivity" when I'm purchasing a car.

Of course, I'm drag racing biased, so that factors into it also.

The Shelby is a much better deal than any Roush or Saleen IMO.

:w ord:I honestly dont know how they even sell the Roush and Saleen. Why pay more for a Roush or Saleen when the GT500 is better in almost every way. I dont get it. Someone explain

well up until recently the Roush and Saleen had a major weight advantage of like 400 lb with only about 100 less HP. so while they were not quite as fast in a straight line they still dominated in the turns. now the weight advantage is only 200 lb so the roush/saleen are a little less attractive until they start working with the 5.0

There have been some really nice Saleen's through the years like the 95-99 500hp s351's that trap at 122mph are still very valuable and the 600hp+ 08's are really fast, and the stage 3 Roush's are no joke with a fully forged 4.6L with a 2.3L TVS sitting on top making 15psi. They're good for 11.3@124 on sticky tires and put down 530whp. So while the majority of them are forgettable their top of the line models still are worth good $$$ Saleen and Roush really know how to dial in the suspension on these Mustangs because of all their racing background as their not going to put their name on a poor performing car's. It was the way to go up until yesterday (Boss 302) if you wanted a great handling and sometime more powerful production Mustang. Lot's of tester's including Top Gear prefer the Roush to 07 GT500 because they can actually go around a race track unlike prior factory Mustangs.

I'll take my Roush with the KB blower any day over the GT500. Dont get me wrong I love the Shelby but it does'nt compare to the Roush IMO of course.

Ok from what I remeber from the S197's (since I used to have an 08 GT) is that the Stage 3 roush was 70k and did not include a forged 3v. It was rather a stock 3v with a blower on top. It did include many suspension upgrades along with wheels and tires and a body kit but come on. 70k? What the F!@# ever. Take a 50k GT500 and put 20k of mods in it and see what you get. The Gt500 looks better IMO too. The Saleen in top form did have a forged 3v but was still very expensive and alot more than GT500. Again you could put mods in the Shelby to make it eat the Saleen so like I said I dont get it. BTW how could anyone say that a Saleen or Rouch looks better than a GT500 with a KR super snake hood.

You are correct on the 2010 but the 05-09 was a stock 3v with a roushcharger. I know this because when I bought my 08 Gt new I looked over the GT500 and stage 3 roush very carefully. After looking at them I came to my own conclusion that the Roush was a scam.

Why do you think it's a scam? Is it because unlike the GT500 you actually have to buy a Mustang GT and then pay for the extra body kit, paint, superior suspension and what not. Of course it's going to cost more than a stock car. Am I saying I dont wish the car was cheaper no but the price is understandable.

Its a GT with mods to add up to a rediculas amount IMO. 70K for a GT with a suspension, wheels, body kit and blower is a scam to me.

i dont think theres 40k worth of upgrades in this cars, but they also have to sell them at a profit. Roush and Saleen does make the best handling mustangs out there. i guess it also acceptable because after Shelby left, ford had to do their variants themselves, it dint go bad but saleen started filing the void.
what would the mustang be without, shelby, roush and saleen,

i'm surprised Ford hasn't adsorbed one of this companies, when they help ford in may products.

So your saying starting the 2010 MY Roush/ Ford threw in a 540hp fully forged 4.6L for free with no price increase over the non forged low boost 430hp 4.6L found in the previous year. I didnt do a price check but if so that's the deal of the century.
