I purchased a service grade from the Ohio store. It was a Greek lent repatriated m1. The butt stock was not walnut (some lighter wood) and did not fit well so I stripped and stained it walnut and also glass bedded the stock for better fitment.

My Beretta is probably rarer (its a Y2K model with only 2000 made) or my Henry lever action (Boyscout Centennial Edition Golden Boy). But I'd have to say the m1 has a lot more blood and sweat in it. If you plan on getting one from the CMP I would probably get started on it as you never know when they will sell out. Especially since the Obama administration pulled this move:

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010...ique-m-rifles/

I'd really love to pick up a M1 carbine sometime
Im really looking for a 1903a3 right now. I passed up one at a show for 425. but now i really want one haha. Carbines are great shooters. Currently my dad has 3. One is an original National Postal Meter, we have a Winchester we are in the process of restoring and recently my grandfather gave me one that just has a bunch of mis matched parts. But they are great shooters.

Those are great prices but you have to be a member for a year.

Otherwise, you will pay around $500 or so for a new one, possibly more.

I haven't bought any 9mm ammo for the wife in a while because I started reloading it for her. The last I remember it was around $12-15 for 50... As far as a .22 goes. There are many good ones out there. You can also buy a .22 kit for a glock I believe. Go to a gun range that rents guns and try several out.

A word of advice, if you get a glock, DO NOT put an extended slide lock on it if you are going to use if for self defense. I found out the hard way that was a bad idea and it will be coming off very shortly. I was involved in an incident and I believe I bumped it up causing the slide to lock back. There is no guarantee that the regular one would not have done it but the slimmer profile minimizes the chances of it happening.

GSSF is a great program and does not cost a lot to join. It also let's anyone buy one Glock a year for LEO discounts with one extra mag included per year per family member. I highly recommend joining now, because they are changing the program in May to limit new enrollees to waiting 6 months to make the discount purchase.

I personally carry the 19 as my primary carry CCW. It is great and I have never had any issue with a jam. I even have the .22 conversion kit for extra practice. I love this gun and now also have a 17, 26 and 34. The best thing about my Glocks is they don't ever jam and are easy to use. My Kimberly and LLama 1911's jam all the time and I don't trust them. ( everyone please don't flame me. This is my personal observation and I agree that the 1911 is a great gun.)

The ammo usually sells at stores about $13.99 -$15 a box. However watch online for great prices. I have bought good ammo for $9.99 - $10.99 a box from Cabellas, Midway and Cheaper than dirt, and always find a sale. here is an example: http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct...tNumber=777168

I have one other suggestion. For Holsters I would look at Comp-tac.com. I have bought boxes of Holsters over the years and have found these to be the best for me. The MTAC tuck able is great andi carryit primarily in the summeror with suits during the day. The paddle holster with the FBI can't is great for winter carry under a sweater/cover garment and competition shooting. Other than one Uncle Mikesnpocket holster I use for my Glock 26, this is the only foster I use now.

Have fun with the Glocks! PM me with any specific questions.

ok i have a question for you gun nuts, in the future (maybe 4 years or so) i wanna purchase a fire arm my question is can you LEGALLY purchase M14 or M1A1 Garand Rifle in the USA?

i know i would have to get a gun license (and other things )

Hi all,
Doc Lawson here, just wanted to say you can get any gun ever made if it is found on the internet. Hunting guns, sporting guns, target guns, military type guns, US Army, Navy, Marine, and Air Force guns, etc. If you can find it on the internet and it is for sale you can buy it. All you need to do is to have it shipped to an FFL. Assuming of course you have the money to cover it. In fact I saw a Barret M82A(US SpecOps Sniper rifle) in the neighborhood of $9000. Also an M16A1(VietNam era) one for $17000 and one for $19000. Well the M14 $1000-3000. M1 looks like $1500 on up for decent ones. So to answer your question yes you can own them. Remember that for hand guns Federal law requires that you are 21 years old and that you register according to local ordinance. I have the Glock 19(9mm), Taurus 66B6(.357Mag) and the High Point JCP(.40S&W); all are registered, none are licensed. They are all fun guns. I would recommend them all! There are various websites you can go to to shop for guns ammo and accesseries. The views expressed are mine own and noone elses. All rights reserved.

So I heard that the weapon used to take Bin Laden out was a 9mm Sig 226. Anyone here have one? Expensive pistol at $735+. Wouldn't mind owning one and practicing with it on my Bin Laden targets...

My money is on an M4 or something similar. I have seen people shot in the head with a 40 cal pistol. Very little structural damage. Reports said he was shot above the left eye and there was substantial damage done. I assume that to be the exit wound. A 5.56 or larger has the capability to do that, not a 9mm. I have never seen anyone clear a room with a pistol if a long gun was available. Unless there was some sort of malfunction with the long gun...

Where did you hear this?

CNN had a video on the weapon being suddenly more popular now that it's been determined as the one used to kill Bin Laden. Perhaps he was shot from the side of the head / left eye and out the front where it would've caused more damage and still killed him?

Anything I heard on the news I would take with a grain of salt. It is well known the SEALs can carry P226s. I am certain Team 6 can carry anything they want since they are the best of the best. I wonder if someone took some creative liberties with the story?

Since the death photos are not going to be released, we may never know. For all we truly know, they could have had MP5s, SCARS, HK416s, etc... However, a 9MM pistol will get the job done.

WARNING! THE FOLLOWING LINK CONTAINS GRAPHIC PHOTOGRAPHS OF DEAD PEOPLE! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
I just found this link:
http://www.reuters.com/subjects/bin-laden-compound
It shows dead men at the compound. I think it is the third one down that APPEARS to have been shot in the chin. I am pretty sure a 9MM round does not make that big of an entrance wound. This would be indicative of what the SEALs would have been carrying. Still, Bin Laden could have been shot with a 9MM while these guys were hit with rifles.

The large amounts of fluid loss in the first 3 indicate, to me, they were headshots. The 4th photo, I would say was a torso shot but can't rule out anything without knowing the size, shape, slope of the floor.

ETA: I just read on a gun website the rumor was a Colt CM901 in 7.62

Owned a 229 for a number of years in .40. Loved that gun. Nice and easy to shoot. But I love my glocks and won't ever go back. (Unless it's Kimber )

Agree with everything here blake. Just highlighted the parts i really agree with. As ypu explained, the Human Head will "normally" contain 1 pistol round without too much deformation. It will not contain a rifle round... especially a .308.

I would assume that due to the nature of this particular mission, it was 7.62's. No reason to pack light when going in to do this kind of "job." But i also assume that they knew full well how many "bad guys" were inside and what they were up against too, so my opinion is purely speculation.

Negative. OBL was killed with a 7.62 round from a rifle (the exact rifle isn't really known - perhaps a SCAR-H? Not sure what ST6 rolls with). This is part of the reason the photos weren't released. Two 7.62 rounds to the face... there's not much to show off after that. Just gore.

As far as the laws regarding gun ownership, Doc Lawson did a pretty good job summing it up. Remember though that state law can change what's allowed. As long as your state allows it, ownership of Full Auto, Short Barreled Shotguns/Rifles, All Other Weapons (flare/grenade launchers - good luck getting the ammo though), and Suppressors are totally legal. The problem with FA toys is that the National Firearms Act of 1986 heavily regulated the importation of FA firearms and what is transferable to civilians.

It's not the best of all places, but the "magazine slot" behind the passenger seat has enough room for a decent sized pistol to sit in. Not the quickest place to draw a pistol from, but it's better than the glove box or on the floor sliding around.
