Smaller numbers ... did you happen to notice that this is exclusive to the Lexus brand who only sold 910k units in the US for the 3 affected model years?

Random testing...do you really think GM tests EVERY SINGLE PART EVERY SINGLE TIME? And, in my analogy, do you really think Hendrick KNOWS, even in the small numbers they work with, which springs are or are not "perfect"? No. They build upwards of 1000 Sprint Cup engines/year, and EXPECT some valve spring problems will occur. Just like Chev expects some LS7 springs to pop...which they have/do... Recall for LS7s, or the LS6 before it? No...just a TSB...even though 100% are potentially affected...

910K units...Caddie would KILL for those sorts of numbers... Hell, their Number One seller, the RX 350, isn't even affected, nor the ES 350, IS 250, GX, LX, HS...

If you go back to GM's soft cam problem, the potential exceeded a MILLION affected units (Lexus is only 270 of 910 specific, totalled, using your numbers), with NO RECALL...kinda like last year's MN6 problem with Camaro SSs..."IF they break, and the customer bitches effectively, maybe we'll do sumthin' 'bout it..."

If anything has been learned and retained, in the last 7 months: "It's better to be pro-active than reactive" , which is a lesson NOT apparently enjoyed by all others, all the time...

Be very careful when you lift the lid on "Pandora's Box"...

Not sure. I gotta find out. I know one of the fog lights on front fell out (actually caved in) and they said it was out of warranty, so they 'Zip Tied' it.

But that would be the bumper to bumper area. Power Train will be higher so I'm gonna go in and have it documented that we are concerned.

Good idea. As with all manufacturer recalls, it would be VIN-specific, but they can tell you what "normal" coverages remain for your specific car, regardless.

Well. Got her car back yesterday. They replaced the springs and a few other items.

Gave Bonnie a nice car as a loaner while they had it and all seems to be good. Springs looked good. So all is well.

Funny how we didnt' get the go ahead til 4 months later. But looks like she'll be fine.

I must say. Lexus service is first class all the way. No strings attached.

My friends with Lexo's that have been affected, none have reported issues...A few have nearly 80,000 miles and the other group abuses the living daylights out of their cars...They took it in for the recall as it was recommended and got a 10yr warranty out of it too for free.

This guys knows his stuff! I see way too much blind hatred here for Japanese automakers for no real reason!

an affected GS350 being beat...
Linkwpc can vouch on C5 that the owner of that car drives like that on a daily basis...He didn't believe me until I took link on a ride with him...Not a single issue with that GS other than a dead transmission at 25,000 (He traded in the car with 80,000)...[Dead tranny occurred due to a sustained 2 minute burnout].

Yea car shopping. As many major and possibly life threatening recalls as her car has been involved in this year, there is no way I would still have it.

What about all the times GM cars have been faulty, and the multiple blown up Fords?

One that happened right infront of me, my own friend's Lightning...FoMoCo's response, whoops we forgot about your Lightning, After all Fuel+Electrical combined hazards are no big deal.........

For the Lexus Recall that happened with the accelerator it NEVER AFFECTED ANY LEXUS MANUFACTURED IN JAPAN
