Let's see the specs. I'll reserve judgement until then. This is all a preview for the 6th gen Camaro, most likely to some degree.....

It may also mean the Z/28 won't return in the 6th gen, unless GM develops an appropriate stand alone engine.

Why is that? If they'll replace the LS7 in one car with the LT4, why not another?

If a supercharged Z/28 was acceptable, we wouldn't have a ZL1.

The only way I can see this as somewhat acceptable is if the LT4 contains the centri style blower in the PDF. If that's the case, you can still very much use the Z06 as a track car as this design is unlikely to suffer the same level of heat soak (or I should say, cause such heat soak) as a traditional PD style blower with rotors. This could be a good thing. Let's hope for the best.

I should add that word around the grapevine is that a DCT (dual clutch trans) will be offered. Some have even gone so far as to say that a DCT will be the ONLY trans option on the Z06. While I welcome a DCT, I would be very saddened if it was the only trans option.

I guess if the car industry was static, then yes.

I'm not saying that the industry should stay static but if you use a badge with a history, you should stick with the history. They can just as easily call this the Z500 and make it a supercharged 6.2 and I wouldn't care but by calling it a Z06, I believe it should follow what the previous Z06s were built for.

So if GM's going FI with the Z06 (sad days) then the only nothing that makes any sense to me it to have a blower on the Z06 and possible subsequent Z/28 and then use a TT setup for the ZR1 and ZL1 models.

Because having two sets of SC6.2's seems weird to me, I know, I know, LSA and LS9...but...there should be more than a pulley swap or blower swap difference between the two car's engines ala the LS7 and LS9. But that's just me thinking out loud. Maybe that idea doesn't make any sense either.

I have a feeling the ZR1 will end up twin turbo.

the lt4 IS the z06 engine, and will be around 600 hp.

this makes way for the LT5, which historically is the correct engine for the zr1, and I think it's pretty cool.

and lets not forget that the original LT5 was a DOHC engine. things that make you go hmmmm...
