In just 33 days, all this bs will end.
They're coming out the door, or they're not coming out the door. 33 days, just hold on. There's a lot of money to be made here, in a dead-market recession. Snifffffff...I can smell them new Camaros now. ![]()

The government is not going to let GM, Ford, or Chrylser go out of business. That would really have a negative impact on the nation. The Camaro is a money maker and the government knows that. The government needs to sound tough so the American people feel that money is not just thrown out there. I honestly believe if someone started a thread to have all of us buy GM stock that the company would see our support. I throw this idea out to everyone. I just saw the stock price at $2.70. Can't we all buy just 100 shares to show our support?

There is very limited risk that GM declares bankruptcy now due to the domino effect that it would have on everyone upstream of them (suppliers, dealers, etc). If GM was allowed to declare bankruptcy, they would be allowed to stop making payment to suppliers, which would force them to shut down. Those suppliers would cause problems not only for GM for other Domestic auto plants (not just American companies) as suppliers usually sell to different brands. This could possibly lead to another big automaker filing for bankruptcy, and so on. This is often referred to as the “systemic risk” of a failure.
![]() The government knows this and will not let it happen (a similar reasoning was used for bailing out AIG to the toon of $185 BILLON, but with risk was to other insurance and finance companies). The average Joe Honda driver was disgusted by the fact the government was going to loan the US makers money, that they contacted their Congress person and said hell no, so in turn Congress added the "Viability Plan" dead line, which is the March date. It is not believed that GM or Chrysler will have any problems generating a plan that Congress accepts, it just a hoop to jump through. I really wish that the media would stop using the term bailout, these are very expensive loans that take first priority in repayment (over most other debt and obligations) . The government has been forced to lend money due to the current frozen credit markets. Fact is companies that used to be able to borrow money at 6% are now being forced to be +12% for government money, with lots of strings, due to a lack of available credit. But enough rambling about business, I want to think about my nice new Camaro that will be coming soon.

Calm down people, If I remember correctly GM and Chrysler had until the END OF MARCH, to submit thir plans to be viable companies, to show what new products would be brought to market to provide the "Green" agenda with some hope. From what I have seen on Chevy's website the upcoming vehicles do just that. I am confident that in the end GM at least will survive. Chrysler on the other hand is a completly different story.

How come this thread remains open and this this area of the forum when the one I posted about this exact issue on Feb, 9th (way earlier than this thread was posted btw) gets moved almost immediately to a less populated section of the forum???? Not upset, just wondering why was mine moved in the first place.. Mine should never have been moved and this thread should have been merged into mine.
(mine has links to the actual stories too)http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13163

Mid February is a check in. GM must show progress to get one more payment. By the end of March GM must show viability meaning they can repay the "bailout". At that time if GM can not show they have restructured enough to be viable then the "bailout" can be recalled, which of course would force some drastic action as the money isn't just sitting in a bank.
By the way "bailout" means Loan. Unless anyone at this site thinks you are going to get a "bailot" to buy your new Camaro. There are a lot of people working very hard right now to make sure this is sucessful. Unfortunately 10,000 salarie employees will be paying the price next As an employee, I appreciate the support here at Camaro5. Your excitement and enthusiasm helps me a great deal.

More Government control and them ordering the auto industry to go against what the majority of consumers really want which is having a cool car...Basically forcing us into buying an electric car and taxing the hell out of our muscle cars, which is doubtful if the current administration and congress had their way would allow to exist in there current form for much longer.. basically the heads of GM would have to bow down to the almighty Government if they would want to keep their jobs. I know I am being facetious, but I wonder if any of these emissions standards would be reduced once global cooling becomes the next science to hit the Al Gore type in Washington.. We would then have to quadruple our methane producing cattle population and make sure cars spew out emissions in groves that are now cleaned in order to reverse the effects of global cooling..
Take a chill pill and get off the roids..
