What truck is the ford 6.2 in? I was so impressed by that number that I went to the local dealer to buy one and the dealer said there was nothing available with that engine. Maybe in the future? I guess you can say the same for the Chevy motor, huh? Since we know that such a motor exists in the GM parts bin...

The 6.2 is on chevy's site. I went to build a 1500 and there it was as an option. Its there. That Bluetec on the Cummins sucks, if you dont run the motor and just putt around in it, it tends to clog with particulates.

The 6.2 is only available in the crew cab LTZ models in the 1500 series trucks. I have two on my lot....one MSRP's for $47k and the other is $44k (ouch!).

The most hp I am aware of in an existing GM truck is 403hp. As for the GM being less expensive to build and maintain, we don't have any reason to assume that. The 6.2L Ford does indeed use an extra camshaft relative to the LSx, but it also doesn't have to deal with pushrods, lifters, etc.

a) We weren't talking about "existing trucks". We were talking about trucks that are not available for purchase yet. Since I happen to own a GM vehicle with a 6.2L engine that makes better numbers, we can assume that if it was an important issue then GM could drop the same engine in a truck and trump the Ford.

b) Twin cam engines are in general more costly to build and maintain. They have more bearnings and more timing chains which are expensive compared to pushrods and lifters.

Ford really has to up it's game because they always come in second in sales to the Silverado/Sierra.
