Maybe,
there is a giant mountain in the backyard of the guy who runs the center.
I never did get to the top, but will next time.
Peru is so beautiful as well, it is breathtaking, but, I recommend Cusco,
not only is it cheaper,
the elevation is so high that you don't need to worry about mosquitos, so no Malaria meds to mess with your trip, also fewer spiders (squick!)

Oh wow another thread by you on this cool , so how many people were at the camp? And how many times did you do it? What was the oldest person there and were you ever fearing that you might of made a mistake or drank too much?

Oh,I know the answer. I got this one for you Spartan!

1. He knows he's cool
2. Number of people are fuzzy at this time.
3. Doing it once a month is great, doing it twice a month could kill him, he's old you know.
4. He was the oldest person there, or anywhere for that matter.
5. You can Never, Never, drink too much. Or, he hasn't got there yet.

Hrpiii,
as always, your answers have me in stitches, is that because you work in a hospital?

Now let's see each center is different, I chose mine because the guy who runs it, Rory specializes in helping veterans.

Generally, the center Arutam Cusco, allows 4 people at a time, but their was only one other guy booked when I went, and he was in the hospital with food poisoning, so it was me and the guide for the whole 10 days.

When you first get there, you do a Tobacco purge, then the next day you do the first St. Pedro Cactus Ceremonies. This is very similar to Peyote.
The effects last all day, and blend into the twilight for a pleasant dinner.

You take the next day off to recuperate and meditate on what you learned in the spirit world (sorry, that is the best way I can explain it.)

The next day you begin the Ayahuasca.
It is a small bowl, about the size of a large double shot glass. I recommend don't mess with it just shoot it back, don't even be in the same room with it, it is really gross.

Nothing happens for about 45 minutes to an hour, but then you begin to vibrate at the right frequency for "The Others" to come and chat with you, which requires a visceral purging- you puke and blow out your O-ring for a while, then when you are done, there they are waiting, ready to show you the secrets of the universe; light-speed, hyper drive, perpetual motion, world peace without bigotry, etc. it is really awesome... Unfortunately your puny monkey brain (mine too) does not retain this knowledge once it comes back to this side of the veil.

At the center I was at, Arutam Cusco, you do the St. Pedro Cactus ceremony first, followed by 3 Ayahuasca ceremonies, each spaced a day apart, followed by a final St. Pedro Ceremony.
Additionally, for an extra $40, you can do "Sapo" which is frog poison-
That was interesting because it hits you immediately, your heart races, you begin to sweat, I honestly thought I would die. Then after about 5 minutes of purging, your feel better than you have ever felt in your life.

Seriously, all joking aside, this was a spiritual journey that I did need to go on.
I cannot tell you what you will or will not need, just that you are going to a far a way place to take a brew from someone that you do not know.
That is how I got hooked up with Rory, and Arutam Cusco-
Ryan LeCompt, is an Ex-US Marine who founded Veterans for Entheogenic Therapy, basically, helping veterans with severe PTSD deal with it by using this therapy.

Google Lisa Ling "This Is Life," Episode 5, for more information,
Also, feel free to PM me and I will get back to you.

Total cost was $800 for all 5 ceremonies, meals, transportation, laundry.
Sapo was extra,
flight tickets were extra.

I apologize if this one is a little bit off, it was my first time using the "Panoramic" feature on the iPhone 5.

These are of me, on the days in between ceremonies, I went hiking by myself in the mountains.
The first is as I got started, the middle is when I had to turn back due to weather,
and the last is after I got back, everything hurt :-)

Wow , Thanks for the in depth write up , and opening up that much very cool of you .I am very interested in the whole process as I have heard the Joe Rogan podcasts a few times about this and find it so interesting . I am 53 years old and in good shape as I have worked in the construction trade my whole life and now that the kids have grown and gone I want to try something like this but am scared shitless , I understand that it is a personal choice and I guess there would never be the guarantee that things could go south . The Sapo I think would be out as I don't think my heart would want to take that rush , And maybe I should go to a different tribesman as I have not ever served and would probably benefit in a different way . I am really glad you are feeling better now and it has helped you , I see all you brave young guys and feel sorry that the only option they feel they have is to drown themselves in painkillers and other medications when this has been used for thousands of years and I hear how it has help so many of you Vets . I want to thank you for your service to this country and hope now your life is better after your experiences. Thanks for all th"e Links I will check them out and keep you informed if I get enough balls to be one of the lucky one's " as I age I realise that your years are numbered and I want to be able to maybe see what is ahead for me. Dont know if I will be able to see that , But I guess there is only one way to find out . Thanks again

I too am scared out of my mind to try it as I freak out on far less potent things and I am only 27. But I agree that if it can help our men and women in uniform overcome the trials that they are stuck with, then I am all for them doing so. Ayahuasca or not, that trip looks like it was amazing. I want to travel the world and experience different cultures because I know I fall prey to having such a small world view. I am aware of current events, but culturally I have only been exposed to the three state area.

Let me put it like this:

Do you own a Smart phone or computer? Ever notice how occasionally it will start acting al weird? So then you have to turn it of and then turn it back on?

Ayahuasca basically does the same thing. It resets your whole consciousness.
You remember every horrible thing you have ever done, and why you did it, then you are able to let it go, Also, you remember all the odd things that made you who you are, and then you realize that you can let it all go.

To quote the great and powerful Joe Rogan; "After a major psychedelic trip, it is like your whole brain is the windows desktop, and after the trip there is only one file left titled 'My Old Bull$h!t' and you can choose to delete that file and start fresh, or open it up again and get back into old patterns of behavior."

this in itself sounds like it would take a few weeks. I'm no spring chicken, I have 48 years of horrible things to work through. Then another 48 years of 'odd' things I did. Is there a Cliff-Notes Ayahuasca drug? Maybe hit the highlights of the horrible things.

And does that one trip to Mexico to see that circus donkey count as a Horrible thing or Odd thing. Just trying to figure out where some things will go.
