I had to edit my original post. I meant for what he said except the ripoff part.

They are diverging again from the soul of the Mustang and losing sight of the roots of the mustang's success.
I'll be PISSED if Chevy plays into this BS and ruins the Camaro.
Don't get me wrong, the Proto-Mistake is sleek and if they stuck another name on it, would be a pretty cool car. But it's not a Mustang. In fact, it's hard to overlook the obvious styling rip offs from our Camaros.
The slavish retro has run its course. Need modern styling with basic cues to the older ones. Ford has it right. Now I want to see the ragtop. (which Ford does right, and GM can't). Maybe a switch back to Ford will be in order.

On a second thought, it kind of reminds me of the last Pontiac GTO model : great performance without the heritage appeal. A car that blends in with the rest of the cars on the road IMO... I am a Camaro guy and I like the actual Mustang, but will not like this one, if this is what they will come up with. Just my 2c...

Will the new Ecoboost Mustang also come with the exploding driveshaft?

That photo of the green concept sketch looks fine to me.

But the truth is, the "final release" of any car never looks as good as a concept sketch anyway.

Has potential.

And I certainly wouldn't expect this forum to go goo-goo over ANYTHING that has Mustang on it.

I agree with you, but I think Chevrolet has done the same thing with the current Camaro. Its modern and concept looking, with cues from the classics. I don't consider the Camaro to be "retro". Now the Challenger...while being a beautiful car, is definitely more retro.

The rendering in the article, while being a good looking car in my opinion, does look a bit awkward as well. The side profile looks exactly like the current car, but with a new front end pasted on. If what the guy in the mustang forum says is true, the backend is pretty cool though.

A 310HP/300TQ turbo 4 in a lightweight pony car would certainly be fun, and once the boost is turned up and the warranty is thrown on the window look out! I'm guessing we will see something similar in the next Camaro.

That said, i still want a modern V6 option with hopefully 330 - 340 HP! (Then I'd mod it for another 20 or 30 HP )

I love how people on this website pretend to have a masters degree in marketing. Stop trolling and shut up. You have no idea what mustang and camaro sales will be. Do you think Ford is stupid? I don't. Mustang had lasted this long without interruption. If you want to diss some cars, choose foreign ones.

If that's what the base engine is and GM doesn't sink to the same depths in their powertrain choices, the Camaro will crush the Mustang!

The V8 will eventually be limited production. Probably only in the equivalent of a ZL1 price range model. This has been well documented in the other topic.

What happened? Did the Camaro fall into a hole filled with those new mustangs?

So what you're saying is an engine with a larger displacement and more power is going to make better fuel economy than the less powerful lower displacement engine in the Focus ST? Cool!

34 MPG? It better get better than that, or else it will effectively put to bet the notion that this downsizing and turbo charging gives enough of an efficiency gain to be worth it. The current 305 hp V6 gets 31. Add direct injection (which the EcoBoost has and the current V6 doesn't), and it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to assume the V6 could get 33-34 in the probably smaller, lighter, more aerodynamic next gen Mustang. So where are the supposed savings associated with EcoBoost?
