Once again...let's fight some real crime. The motto is "serve and protect" not "annoy and collect". Maybe now that that is straightened out we can move on.

I had an issue with a small town cop. Said I was doing 73 in a 65....without a radar gun. Guy at the court date said, he didnt need a radar gun, he was a veteran cop that could judge speed. If you ever drive thru Patton Village on Hwy 59, watch out!

Yea, they grow internal radar detectors after a certain number of years experience..didn't you know that?

Yeah the guy was being kinda a dick in not seeing the human side to the situation but it is what it is.
Technically correct, yes. Cop was definitely being a bit of a hardass about it though.

Got pulled over by accident once. In CA, our renewal is up in January and we get the a sticker that has the year of expiration. So, we got a 2013 sticker in orange. Apparently it's really similar to the red sticker from a year or so ago.

Police pulled me over on Saturday evening with my wife as the passenger after we came from a fairly nice dinner social. I pulled over, turned the car off, hazards on, keys on the dash, both hands on the wheel, no froggy movements. Policeman approaches on the passenger side, motions for us to roll the window, and said...

"Folks, I'd like to apologize - I thought you had expired tags, my mistake. You weren't even speeding. Let me just see your license and you'll be on your way."

I gave it to him, waited for them to run my # to see that I'm not in trouble, and he said, "Be sure to get up to speed before reetering the highway. Have a nice night."

He was a young guy as well. So...police folks can be nice, especially when you drive the speed limit (I nearly always do) and don't seem as though you're ready to be a smart%^&. Sometimes they'll even say when they make a mistake.

At least this time the police fellow certainly was a good guy!

Yea, I don't think I'll be able to get out of it... Suck it up and pay and see if they will drop it from my record..

If I do get pulled over by a young cop in a small town again I'm just going to have fun with it. The best manners and being honest isn't going to get you anywhere with them. At least that is what I've seen. The small town my lakehouse is in the cops are the same. They think they own the town.

I do understand the revenue side of it though. Another small town in east Texas had to do away with the police dept. But if you have to give a ticket, at least be nice about it and not act like a prick.

This is what we were taught during drivers training, granted the car was a v6 Mustang that literally couldn't accelerate to 40 on a freeway onramp
