pretty sad for the 10k price difference.
The Challenger RT handily defeats a 2002 Camaro SS.. And the 2002 Camaro SS still beats the V6 2010 Camaro.. The Challenger may be heavier, but it isn't slow..

Id like to see where the R/T "Handily" defeats the SS.

A tick over 13.0 sec. and you're through the quarter-mile. It's a rush, of course, but not overly dramatic. Try the same thing with this pair's predecessors of 1970 or so and you'll find yourself in a bit of a wrestling match. Ain't progress wonderful? Maybe yes, and maybe sometimes it's fun to wrestle."

From your numbers:

V6 Camaro: 12.33 lbs/hp
Challenger R/T: 11.08 lbs/hp

You must be expecting the V6 to Camaro to hook up A LOT better than the Challenger.

Like i said before, it should be able to hang with it. Im talking real world btw. not many v6 Camaro's are going to make it to the track

Does anyone know how long this deal will be going on for? If this is still going on in a month from now I just might have to go take a Challenger out for a spin and weigh my options.

You might remember I'm going through a divorce and basically said I can't afford my Camaro right now...well I'm still living a pipe dream that I can swing it somehow, but maybe this Challenger is my saving grace.

I hear ya about the money situation. This 0% financing deal along with lower than "MSRP" employee pricing on a Challenger R/T and SRT8 seems to be something many of us should take a look into and figure out exactly what the prices and deals are that we can get on these Challengers and compare them with the Camaro. I know I can go sign up to a Dodge forum and so forth but I'd much rather do it here and keep things simple..

I'm going to go take a look at one today. Apparently the deals don't start until Monday so I guess I will get the inflated price when I go there...

According to Chrysler, Employee pricing on a 2009 Dodge Ram cuts the sticker price by about 13%. Combined with other discounts, buyers can save nearly $9,000, according to Chrysler. We should see a similar price saving on the srt8 as well..

No, I think they have to keep the profit relatively high so they can recover the huge loss they took to get the car to market. This is a first year car I'm thinking they'll have to keep profit levles up. I see your point about how much we get for the money but I'm thinking GM will have to make money up front. Either that or they are marking up other models to help cover camaro costs... But in this economy that doesn't seem wise either.

Of course I could be completely wrong. The last time Bob Lutz and I talked about this, he explained to me how this...... psh NOT!

I agree, the cost of the Camaro is fair at MSRP, however GM is making a profit selling them as they have to. Chrysler on the other hand just received this bailout and needs to get the cars moving since they know the dealers are overpricing them and that is a big reason they don't sell.. Lowering the price by giving incentives will match the competition and I do feel that the Challenger R/T is a better buy than the current Mustang GT and a very close second only to the Camaro, however the 0% financing coupled with below MSRP could put it at a better overall value than the Camaro once the numbers are figured out.
