Well LOTR is the best trilogy then .
STAR WARS is the best saga.
This thread is only about the anniversary of Empire.

I saw all 6 movies opening day. The re-releases also. My parents took me to ep. 4 but dropped me off at the theater for 5 and 6. I remember being so hyped for Empire and I also collected the Star Wars comic books. I remember reading the comic before the movie came out and found out that Darth Vader was lukes father. Kind of a spoiler.

By far the best movie trilogy to exist.

Actually the extended editions are a grand total of 683 minutes which is only 11.4 hours of movie. But there are tons and tons of behind the scenes stuff on those extra discs.

I think Lord of the Rings is in a different class from Star Wars. Star Wars is classic scifi. Lord of the Rings brought in a whole new age of movie making for the fantasy genre. The scope of its filming was huge. Star Wars is still the best for its unique approach to many of the technical limitations of its time. Laser guns, light swords? Who would of thought you could do that stuff 30+ years ago before the age of computer effects.
