Your numbers are backwards for the v6 and the eco boost . Check again. 2017 models V6 300 HP and the T4 is 310.

Eh...I'd say there's 3 types of buyers...
Those that want to go fast Those that want the looks And those that want both Either way you only need 2 motor options. And that goes for both Camaro and Mustang. And it's probably cheaper to make the 4cyl motors than the V6s at this point since they are shared across more platforms.

I doubt Chevy would drop the V6 from the Camaro lineup, considering that they just put out a 1LE version of the V6 model.

The EB just need the FoRS's turbo and tune. 350/350 sounds pretty good for the base model's output, especially as the Coyote will see a power bump for '18.

Sad to see the V6 go.
But as others have said, the truth is that Ford was going to kill it anyways. You couldn't get any premium or performance options on the V6...thus sales was surely going to be low on that engine option. A 2014 Mustang V6 with PP was just as, if not a bit faster stock for stock against the 2015 Ecoboost. GM is not going to do the same thing unless for some reason the sales just fall tremendously on the V6. Not only that...but to stay competitive they'd have to either bump up the power in the 2.0 a lot to match the EcoBoost (which is getting a bump in power this year) and I don't see that happening....OR....offer a new larger turbo engine which can produce the power needed on less boost than the 2.0. The fact that Chevrolet has given the V6 all the goodies (including 1LE) says they plan to stick with the V6...at least for this entire generation. Next gen, I can see it dropping off...sadly.

this was one of the reasons i bought my camaro RS.wanted leather seats, all the goodies but didnt want to buy a 4 cylinder and didnt need to pay the premium for a v-8.got a 2015 because it seemed wasteful to spend $1500 for the 6 cylinder option on a 2016.
