OP, I doubt you missed out on a tip. People like that usually don't tip, and if they do, you likely wouldn't notice it.

Probably trying to get a free meal - throw tissy and have manager comp it. Though I'm sure this method is not very successful, wouldn't be with me.

I have a colleague like that. She would always try to find something wrong with her meal (too salty, too greasy, etc.). In two occassions, she had her lunch for free.

I was in a 7/11 on Christmas day and some chub redhead from NJ decided to go ballistic on the staff because she could not use TWO one dollar coupons on her pack of marlboro menthols. She wanted their names and was out of control telling them she would have their jobs. The employees were calling the police to trespass her.

I'd have given her a dollar to shut up and leave, but she was in full rant.

Let it go.

The service industry in general is brutal people suck i've never waited tables thank god my hat goes off to those people and i always tip generously provided they do the basics of their job. There are really shitty wait staff out there but those are few and far apart for most visits. i have worked in a grocery store in all the perishable departments seafood was the worse they'd complain about how you skinned it and how much you tossed out off to the side even if it ended up exactly how they wanted it and within like.02 of it's intended weight. I've also worked pizza delivery next to in store wait staff they are easily treated the worse and make less money. tip your delivery guy their job sucks the one who gets you your food warm and in one piece and says hi and thank you is the one you wanna give that extra buck or two to because they will remember you in the future.

This.. I unfortunately know some of them. They are just rude, and feel like anyone and everyone should bow to their every need. I delivered pizza twenty years ago while in college. To those who do not tip, ask yourself why your pizza took long to deliver. Because when I leave with 2-3 pizzas, the house who don't tip get their pizza last regardless of route.

I've never worked in the food service industry, luckily... did pick pineapples for Dole in High School while we lived in HI during the summer, and that taught me what kind of work I didn't want to do.

I hate people that make scenes over nothing, especially to get a free meal or a free dessert.

If you truly had crappy service, that's what the tip is for... making a scene is just making an ass out of yourself.
