Now, my wife is bummed out about this. She still has to sign the papers so tomorrow shall be interesting. Basically, what my dealer is saying is that if there is a financial problem between it and GM as to the price guarantee, it is not willing to take the financial hit, and shall pass the money problem on to me in terms of me taking the financial loss and not it. So much for dealer loyalty. Becky - any insight on this? Have you had any problems getting back what you should get back from GM?
Stay tuned. Last edited by Richardlord; 05-09-2014 at 08:53 PM. |

WALK AWAY!!!
The dealership telling you there's lots of interest in your car and people willing to pay MSRP is one of THE OLDEST TRICKS IN THE BOOK. There might be people interested, but how many can actually buy it? Call their bluff, tell them you want your deposit back and tell them to cram it with walnuts.

At this point, I likely shall get back money from my dealer, but I don't know if it shall be the full amount. Very dissatisfying. So, I'll probably leave my dealership with a great car, but as a dissatisfied customer. Even if I get back the full $3,200, this situation shall leave me with a bad taste in my mouth with my dealership and GM, but that must be OK with them. So, I guess grin widely while driving my C7, and bear the ignominy of the buying experience. |

With dealers always so concerned on how well you rate them on the survey we will be getting, it's surprising they are so unwilling to work for you. You might want to use that as a way for them to come around too. I've only had my C7 a little over 2 weeks and I've gotten several calls from the dealer on how things are going and don't forget about that survey and if you can't provide us the highest marks, be sure to call so we can resolve what ever... It must really hurt them if you slam them on these things??

Some dealers focus on the quick sale with a stupid high price, and make their money once per customer, to hell with future sales, it's all about "now". Others offer sales at very reasonable prices, work with each customer closely to ensure satisfaction with both the vehicle and the deal. These make their money on repeat sales: if a person is happy buying that Cruze for junior, or Malibu for the missus, they'll come back for that Silverado work truck, Corvette play toy or Tahoe people-mover, and all the related service for said vehicles. They'll also then tell about their positive experience to all their friends, and get a little kick-back on each subsequent sale. I can list several of each type here in St. Louis. Thankfully, I got one on the good list, and my dealer has been great to work with, even months after the deal was complete.
Hang in there, Richard. Write your check for the original agreed amount - then see where the deal goes. Make them sweat a little!

This dealer is a piece of work, I imagine the only reason your are still working with them is because they have an order in your name that is price protected. If the order follows these simple rules they will get the refund from GM, there is no variance. 1. Original Retail Sold order with customer name input accepted into the system at status 1100 before 03/04/14 2. No changes to the order from status 1100 3. Sold to customer = ordering customer They are playing a game with you OR they are not really very good business people seeing as they don't seem to understand how their relationship with GM works. Price protection on retail sold orders is a standard practice, this isn't their first rodeo. Good luck with it, I hope it works out for you. |

Hey Richard, if you're a Veteran, my dealership also honors the GM Military Discount(Supplier Pricing) and USAA discounts on the C7.
I just talked to my buddy. If he can't hook you up and save you money, no one can.
