That's was my assessment as well. I just don't trust the brand when in the late 2000s, their interiors were a hilarious joke. I'm aware Cerberus just wanted a quick turn. Still the quality seemed more of a "Don't care" than a "Wish I could but no budget".

Also, I'm not naīve to believe that changes to standardization, management, engineers, and budget can cause Chrysler to go up in quality. While the Cherokee is basically a fiat, I don't know if that means good or bad.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who digs the interior.

2.4 or the 3.2?

If the 3.2, how's the power?

This is my concern as I like the fact GM and Ford offer more high tech engines like direct inject. The 3.2 and 3.6 Pentastar just have VVT.

Saw them too.

Their negatives were trunk space, mpg, the 2.4's power, and cost when compared to other models. That trailhawk is up there in cost.

wow just did the build a car on that think holy crap. trail hawk with the 3.2 and few fitures is 34-35K. If you want it well equipped to loaded you go over 38K. That seems steep but my wife's loaded Highlander was 44K.

Honestly, the Cherokee is one of the worst redesigns in history. The old Cherokees had such a beautiful iconic look and this new one is just butt ugly. I don't understand what they were thinking. All the other Jeeps stay pretty true to the classic Jeep look. Even the new micro Renegade looks more like a Jeep.

That said the interior is very nice. I don't know about the overall vehicle or quality. While it may be better than Chrysler, Fiat is definitely not known for steller build quality.

As with all Chrysler products the msrp is heavily inflated. I got $14,000 off msrp on my Ram pick ups. Just call Costco and get a no haggle price which is usually $10k off msrp on a vehicle in that price range.

Here's a link to a Trail Hawk with a msrp of $37,259 discounted down to $30,330

That is the exact setup I wanted except I need the black interior.
Man, they must not be selling ANY...and I can understand why.

Yeah I almost got a Dodge Pick up because of that too huge discounts. Chevy trucks used to do that too now the went up on price and don't do much discounting.

This vehicle grew on me. The traihawk would be the trim level i would by if i was in the market for a small SUV. The best part about it imo is the interior. Jeep went from the worst to some of the best interiors in the market.

My one buddy just bought a trail hawk Cherokee. It's very nice if you can get past the front end and the fact that it doesn't ride that good.
I would put the quality, fit and finish as good as anything out in the market these days. As a QC inspector for a automotive plant i'm picky as hell in this area when it comes to purchasing an automobile. Its the history of this company building sub par vehicles that is hurting them.

So the "solid axle" technology determines if its a Jeep or not?
I would have argued its no longer an American company, its Primarly FWD, transverse engine. But solid axles?

This is my biggest concern.

Not only was the car's a joke back then but I'm worried about the 3rd party companies they were associated with that caused parts to fail early. One example is the alternators. You tube shows a lot of "Hey, you hear this sound? That's the alternator. They are notorious for...".

This was for Dodge and as I type this, I admit that is not the right way to think and feel. Basing quality over vehicles produced a few years in the past.

But if everything is all new, then maybe this is a viable alternative. I just wished it was much more power. If there is an SRT version, then "Yes".
