Your talking about 1 second that's not a whole lot of time to react, to him he felt that was the right action to take in that moment, but was it right or wrong depends on perception if you ask me obviously was the right answer to save himself and obviously the family is calling it the wrong answer
Just remember this isn't a game your talking about its someone's life no matter if its meaningful to you or not someone loved her, but I'm also not defending her If it were me I don't know what I would of done, I never been in a life or death situation like that so I can't say I wouldn't of done the same but looking from the outside in I can say I would want to try from a shoulder shot but in that short of a reaction time your mind is different under that kind of pressure Last edited by MikeMoach; 10-15-2012 at 08:32 AM. |

One other thing, if he was alone and there were a number of bystanders, he can't afford to be tied up with a taser engagement.

I think he made the right call. However, knowing how some of these idiots in Cincy think, they will say the officer didn't say please or something.

So.... she brought a knife to a gun fight... who DOESN'T know how that ends up?
Seriously, according the letter of the law and the policies in the majority of most LEO, the officer acted accordingly. Hope he makes out o.k |

Distance between OFFICER and person with the knife when he stepped in?
At 10-15 ft a person with a knife, bat, or whatever can close the distance before you unholster your weapon of choice. If she has a deadly weapon and is wtihin that range or close its "lethal" choice. If she is outside that distance, taser but it isn't accurate at distance..You can't second guess someone being there and that person knowing the threat! If she had a knife and moved towards him in a threatening manner then ohhhhhhh well...better to be jusge by 12 than carried by 6 |

Should you really be posting this information on a public forum when you are a fellow law enforcement person?
