You don't have to imagine it. The '96 SVT Mustang Cobra all-aluminum DOHC 4.6L V8 redline is 6800 rpms with fuel shut-off/rev limiter set at 7000 rpms. The '96 motor had a complex aluminum intake manifold with dual length runners. The longer runners handled anything up to 3200 rpms (to assist torque at lower roms), at which time 8 individual butterfly valves opened up for the shorter runners to allow maximum airflow through both sets of runners up to the 7000 rpm rev limiter. The expensive complex manifold was replaced by a simpler design (as a cost reduction) in the '99 SVT Mustang Cobra, which reduced redline to 6500 rpms.

Just noticed: The hood bulge doesn't look quite right and a couple of other small details seem wrong. That said this is more or less the 2010GT. |

I was just on the 2010 mustang.com site and they have the new mustang reveled already.I have to say I was really impressed. The interior looks to be greatly improved.i really like the new look of the car.Looks like they are keeping the 4.6 for this year but it gets a 15hp jump to 315hp.Im curious to see what you guys think. To all the Mustang haters out there,I wouldnt be so cocky as to think that the Camaro will outsell the Mustang.Remember when the 4th gend were around the Mustang was outselling the Camaro and the firebirbs sells combined by a 2 to 1 margin.I just hope that the camaro doesnt share the same fate as the GTO,if it doesnt sell as many cars as the Mustang does.

Just saw the new pics on the official site too. The exterior changes are nicely done, but nothing too drastic, which is wise on Ford's part. I'm not impressed with the interior still except for those new photos with the red leather and big aluminum shifter (which aren't standard I'm sure). There's just a problem with that center console being all dented-in and flat looking.

It's...interesting...I suppose.
V6 Camaro still trumps the V8 Mustang...sure, 15 more horsepower, but how much more will it cost?

Camaro doesn't have the best record out outselling, just a solid record of outperforming. Expect the tradition to continue |

Plus you gotta think of all the car rental agencies alone who purchase convertibles If people went into a car purchase having researched vehicles, it would clearly outsell, but outside of the members of this forum, it's few and far between Last edited by swifttal; 11-17-2008 at 09:37 PM. |

![]() old ![]() new Actually turned out better that I thought it would - still not even close to the camaro as far as styling though, but I'd agree it's an improvement |

Ha. Fifteen more horsepower. EXACTLY what I said in a thread almost half a year ago. Still people would argue and say it was getting a much higher bump. Bravo.

My second claim is that the weight difference between the Camaro and the new Mustang (2011-2012) will be negligible at best. It will be no more than a 200lb difference. Also, don't expect the supposed 5.0L to have any more than 410 horsepower.
