It's the weakest part of the Camaro design in my opinion. Not that the bumper will fall off. I like the Camaro overall but think it's one area that can use improvement. Just because this is a Camaro site I don't have to be a fanboy. I like all kinds of different cars and will call it as I see it. If we liked the same things life would be boring.

Both hot cars, but different cars.
Exactly.

Strictly speaking 5.0 vs. SS - I think the SS has more power potential.

It's easy to talk the talk on a forum, so, to each his or her own.

I drag race a warmed over 383 '89 Camaro (smog legal in Calif.) 700R4 with a 75 shot of nitrous and no I repeat no overrated gt 500 has come close.

Magazines have the run the SS Camaro and gt 500 mustang against one another and the average difference is .2 in the 1/4 mile in favor of the gt 500. There's more difference in a driver. For $50K a pop for the gt that money is NOT well spent. Imagine what one can do with $20K on their SS Camaro. A $30K SS Camaro is a steal!

I've made few modifications to my SS with more to come and so far gt 500s come in 2nd on regular basis in the 1/4 mile.

I like all performance cars, even own a 1969 Mustang 351 (my wife drives on weekends). I can speak from experience the current gt 500 is way overrated and most of the Ford's performance mustangs cannot back up their performance. That's not to say ford mustangs are not fast.

i don't know anyone who has $50-54k and has asked me what do buy, either a SS or gt500.... usually when you have that cash, you aren't buying a car (speaking middle class people)... my point is that based off cost, someone who has a larger down payment is gonna buy the gt500 over a SS...

Okay, my wife drag races a 393Ws stroker 1965 Fastback and no stock SS Camaro has put up a quarter mile time that even comes close to what that car runs. What's your point?

Less than 10% of all SS Camaro buyers so far have opted for a 1SS, so it is very unlikely that 90% or more of the owners of modified 2010 Camaro's on the road today paid anywhere near as low as $30K for their car. It's always nice to use the lowest V8 Camaro price in comparison to the highest GT500 price when making that arguement, isn't it?

I will agree, however, that the Camaro offers a better bang-for-your-buck, performance-wise, than the GT500.

Has this gotten to a pissin contest or what? Cars are cars, you buy what you like. Personally there have been Mustangs that I would kill for (69 BOSS 302) and some you couldn't give me. I own a 2004 Mustang and paid almost $20,000.00 for it used. Since I bought it I've been very happy with it. There are also Camaros in the same catagory. Some I'd kill for and some you couldn't give me. I got my 2010 2SS/RS for a tad over $34000.00 so that in the 30 thousand range.
I remember my first car was a 65 Red Mustang fastback GT350, that I bought for $750.00, it was REAL fast for it's day and I use to kick Camaro butt in it all day. I'm a car guy, I buy the car not the brand. if it's a good car, I don't care who made it.

I priced a GT500 yesterday.
It really bugged me that I couldn't get stripes with the dark blue (koni?sp)
and the seat insert colors sucked with that color too.
Too bad.

Actually, you can get stripes with Kona Blue. In fact, take a look at the car in bpmurr's avatar....Kona Blue with white stripes

That explains it then.

What do you mean you could not get stripes? You can get white or silver stripes on the Kona Blue. Whatever strip you go with on the exterior, you will get on the interior.
