This is the biggest load of crap. You can't try to beat someone's time, but you can see what your best 1/4 mile is????? How could their PR people even allow them to say that. "Hey my engine blew up!" "Were you racing?" "No I was driving fast on the track, to see what the car is capable of. "Sorry sir but you were racing against the clock to get your best time, warranty void." |

I seem to be able to get off the line much faster (less tire spin) using launch control. Without it the nannies really bogs down the engine. Most FUN is to start using Launch Control and never let off Full Throttle. Red Line, and right into No-Lift-Shifting thru the gears. That way you stay in Boost thru each gear! I've tried turning everything OFF, and fagetaboutit, the tires spin just punching the accelerator, and its easy to get sideways, which ain't a good thing. So for me, an amateur driver, I like the performance modes and computer assistance. |

Love how Ford's chief engineer covers it off at 12:53...

Linelock, yeah yeah. For years Mustangs had vaporlock as standard equipment too.

Excuse my enthusiasm, but that's the largest bull turd out there. There's no way Ford can tell whether there's another car in the other lane without a thorough, and expensive, investigation. They will assume that a race is occurring every time the button is pressed or they will require customers to somehow prove there wasn't a race. Since the pool of people to be affected is so small, a lawsuit is unlikely to change the burden of proof to Ford. Also, quotes can be easily taken out of context, especially by automotive journalists motivated to get readership and links to their articles on every discussion board in the auto world. Ford is going to claim a race has occurred for every warranty claim after this button is pushed. We've seen it before on other cars from various brands, and this is no different.

Sure you can race another car, as long as it's a ghost car...

Think I'll make a few calls and get a price check for this mod. Gotta do a little more research on parts/installation. So many mods on the Wish List!

Except for it being specifically a drag race oriented feature, its inclusion in the car is philosophically not much different from the Corvette's performance data recorder. Norm |

So basically if the Camaro had this it would be the coolest thing ever, kind of like the guys that ripped the 2001 Cobras for IRS and said how the Camaro was better because it had a solid rear axle then when Ford used a solid rear axle and Chevy used an IRS it was the best thing ever. Sometimes we need to look at stuff from other manufacturers and say hey that's actually pretty cool even if your own brand didn't do it first.
