I'm taking it you have never been to one? I have attended all but one, and that was due to work.

For me, a 13 hr drive to CamaroFest IS worth it. I have attended Camarofest in Phoenix AZ, Baytown TX, and Valdosta GA. I am lucky enough to only be a few hours from Bowling Green KY. We will be there partaking in all the events, and the most important event, the parking lot party.

I want to say, some people go, and don't have fun, it's not their cup of tea, or their expectations were different. Some go, and makes friends for a lifetime.

1. You have to want to have fun, and meet people. If you are a loner and don't care to socialize, this may not be for you.

2. For me, I enjoy what Camarofest was designed for. Being able to drive my car fast, in a controlled, stress free environment. Driving my car on a road course event to see how good I am, which I am not... but I get to enjoy it with everyone else. Drag racing is a blast, and all for fun. I don't have to feel like I am "racing" all the time. I get to practice my launching, and again, driving fast and having fun with my fellow Camaro friends. If you have NEVER EVER driven your car on a drag strip, this is the place to learn. Everyone there will help you and answer all your questions. If you go.. DO THIS ONE THING, you will be hooked, just ask my wife.

3. The Parking Lot party. This was from the very first Camarofest in Valdosta GA. It was setup then and been a focal point since. Again, socializing and making new friends to have a lifetime. Alcohol is abundant. It's just a giant party that allows you to go around, see the cars, introduce yourself to others, meet others from the forum, have a few drinks with friends and relax. Party usually goes into the 2-3am range, then we all get up and hit the track at 8am. Then repeat for Sat Night. Again, not for everyone, but you will meet people that will give you their shirt of their back to help you do anything you need. I found that out at the second camarofest, when I was talking with some of the guys that had really modified their cars into the 600-700 hp range. When I saw their cars, I was all like "man, that has to be fun to drive". They were like "hey, if you want to drive it on the track tomorrow, go ahead, have some fun with it". And they were serious as can be, I did not take them up on the offer, because I couldn't afford it if I broke it...lol. But that is the kind of people on this forum, and they are no different in person. This forum has some of the best people you will ever meet, and to see them in person is just as fun and exciting.

One thing we don't have on this forum is an "accent" based on where you live in this wonderful country. But when you meet them in person, it's quite fun to put that voice to their forum name. From Texas, Louisiana, California, Canada, NY City, East Coast and Midwest... what a great group to talk to.

If you enjoy your Camaro. Enjoy Car Shows, Enjoy meeting people, Enjoy partying to the early hours and like or want to go fast in YOUR car... CamaroFest is for you. You see cars that have $30K in mods, some for speed, or/and some for show.

OH, and how could I forget the CamaroVan traveling fun. If you are in a big group, it's just an amazing feeling. Not only you, but many of the 'other' drivers on the road give a little nod to the group. I have been fortunate enough to roll in a Camarovan to the fest with 80 other Camaros.

We pulled into a rest area and filled it up. People were stopping thinking a giant car show was happening on the interstate. We mounted up and rolled onto our event. Great memories being part of that. In Baytown, we were at the host hotel when 100 Camaros rolled into the parking lot. Man that was a site to see and hear.

I've always thought technical driving is more fun than straight line.

It will, due to the number of people that attended and truly enjoyed themselves and their cars. One thing I also enjoyed was watching the drag racing (when I wasn't on the track). The covered grandstands are NICE to get out of the sun and relax.

That is very true. But even the people that drove on the track Thurs, in the rain, still enjoyed themselves. Which shows that our group can go anywhere and have a great time. We will be heading out early again this year.

Considering it would be a day and a half of nonstop driving I probably won't get a chance to go.. Really hoping it's closer next year.
