Good 4th gen. 'vette forum / source of info?

Hope you all had a good Christmas, and that the New Year will treat you all well. Mine's been interesting.

While home over Christmas it was made clear to me that I'll be taking possession of my Dad's '87 'vette once the weather warms up. They're moving out of the house they've been in for the last twenty-three years, and losing a couple of vehicles in the process.

He bought it new, and it's still in pretty much in the same condition. He's not put 25,000 miles on it yet. Over the last year or so, he's been in it a bit more than usual, finding leaks, things that needed to be fixed due to age and lack of use, and now I know why. Basically he wanted to make sure he wasn't handing me a repair bill along with it.

So, it's going to stay pretty much stock. I plan to put a few more miles on it than he has, but as my Camaro's not going anywhere, I'll use it as a nice top off cruiser, and more of a grand-tourer than anything else. It will be a nice change of pace.

Who know's the C4's might appreciate someday, but even if they don't, it's been my Dad's car since I was still in highschool.

Anyway, just looking for a place to read up on that generation, find their foibles (other than the dash and retractable antenna, those I know about), and what small and unobtrusive things I might want to do to update it here and there.

If anyone can point me in the right direction, I'd be grateful, as well as whichever of the nephews or nieces winds up with it eventually too.

Thanks for the help. Naturally I'll post some pics once it gets to my place.

This is your best bet: http://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/...-1984-1996-19/

I actually always liked the C4's and at some point I would like to add a nice one to my garage before they go up in value. Especially a '96 LT4...

I'd like to add a Black Rose to the garage some day. I just need to finish the El Camino first.

Is the '87 automatic or manual? If manual, it has the Doug Nash 4+3 transmission, and you should really only activate the overdrive unit in 4th gear.

Automatic, not my preference, but I've got the 6spd. in my Camaro. So a change of pace won't hurt.

Appreciate the link, thank you.
