Jerky Mustang Driver

So, last night I am on my way home. Driving on a 4-lane each way limited access highway/interstate (MA 128). VERY heavy traffic, almost stop and go, but with a little more space than that. We're all going maybe 40. Gaps of 2-10 car lengths in front of us all open and close. I am in the second lane from the right, minding my own business, driving my black 2SS. Some d-bag in a metallic red Mustang GT (prior generation) goes roaring past me on the left (loud exhaust, otherwise stock appearance) then gets on the brakes so he doesn't hit the guy in front of him. I don't think anything about it and continue along at a steady slow pace. I don't even look at the guy beyond a quick glance. My lane advances and I move along not thinking about anything but what I need to do when I get home. I had apparently gone past Mr. Mustang, which apparently bothered him(?). So, again in the lane just to my left, he comes by again (loudly) but this time, once he is to where his back bumper is just a little ahead of my front bumper, he swerves right (toward my lane) abruptly until his tires cover but do not cross over the white painted lane markers, then swerves back to the center of his lane. It seemed as though it might have been some kind of display of aggression toward me. I continued along unpeturbed and paid no more attention to him. I assume he went the other way at some point because I didn't see him again.

Does this kind of crap happen to you guys? I am an extremely courteous driver, so I am certain that I had not done anything that had in any way impacted him, so no actions of mine should have provoked this kind of stupid sh*t.

What are your thoughts?

People are crazy, young, old and everything in-between. Some people think the highway is for them, and rules and courtesy does not apply to them. Drivers like that, I try to stay away from because they will get someone killed (and unfortunately, it's never themselves).

Yeah, there are a lot of nuts out there. I have no desire to play with morons and will do my best to keep my distance.

I was on I-78 in NJ Saturday when this work van comes off the ramp and swerves all the way to the left lane then spends the next 10 minutes swerving lane to lane, braking hard and swerving back to his last lane. True a$$hole.

I rarely leave home unarmed, especially when on the bike. Too many pieces of feces in the world these days.

There seems to be an increasing and very alarming trend lately of people becoming enraged when you pass them. I don't get it at all. If I can see someone is in a bigger hurry than I am I often move over or slow down a bit and make it safer for them to pass me. But it seems so many people now freak out when you pass them. You may have passed him earlier and not even noticed but he lost his mind.
Just the other day I was on a desolate back road and a pick up in front of me was doing 15 miles under the speed limit. So I passed him and when I looked over he was literally having a complete breakdown screaming out his window at me.

Yes, people are f-ing nuts.

kinda a side note but related - I love how in the traffic as you described, people think that the other 50,000 people in front are gonna get out of their way

just calm down folks, I can't go any faster than the person in front of me...you know... PHYSICS!!!

PA carry is great, but watch yourself in NJ. They will lock you up and throw away the key if you are carrying...unless you are rich or connected enough to have a carry permit hookup.

Isn't it funny how right after you pass these slowpoke idiots, suddenly they're now in a big damn hurry.

I'm thinking he was trying to get right when you 1st saw him and closed the gap so he couldn't move. In his delusional Mustang Mind, he probably thought you did it on purpose.

So hard to tell. I don't tend to intentionally block people who are signaling. He hadn't been signaling, but who knows.

+1... I never knew tailgating was such an art form until I moved to Denver... I thought I had seen it all in Houston, but it was at a whole knew level here.

IME, young women are the worst tailgaters.
