g8 gxp has a 6 speed manual.
Here is how I see it

Challenger 6 speed > G8 gxp manaul
g8 gxp auto > challenger auto
camaro auto > challenger auto
camaro 6 speed > or = challenger 6 speed

Getting rid of the mercedes slushbox E-class auto 5 speed will make the challenger the beast that it should be.

well lets look at this.

Challenger.
4150lbs
425hp

Camaro
3800 (generous)
415+- hp

i dont think it would be all that close asuming the drivers were of the same skill level

Well that is the beauty of it my friend. We have to wait to find out. You know motor trend and car and driver will have head to heads ASAP once the camaro comes out. I am just glad we can have these arguments once again just like the good old days. I don't know too much about cars but besides weight to hp ratios, don't you have to take into account transmission and torque? I am just asking don't flame me for being a NOOB

btw I didnt know the camaro had a B pillar just like the challenger would that affect weight as well?

congo btw where in Florida do you live? I am in miami.

The Camaro may be a little late, but the Challenger has missed the last ~35 years.

Moving on . . .

The challenger has been missing for 35 years, but it was the one who had the balls to come out first. Chevy was smart to wait and see what the challenger was bringing so they can one up dodge. But at least dodge had the balls to come out first. car and driver tested the Challenger at 4.7 0-60 and 13 flat in the quarter and that is with a Mercedes e-class auto trans lol. with minor bolt ons it will be well into the mid 12s and with the new vortech supercharger pushing 600+hp I wouldnt be chanting victory before you even entered the competition. The camaro will be great but don't start trashing a better looking 4 door sedan than the g8 and one of the fastest sedans in the market.

I'll save my breath for when the manual numbers come out. Those numbers are going to be out of this world. (for a pig)

About the stang....makes dodges special editions look like one in a million.

Who's got bigger 'balls' is debatable. Chevy's not 'waiting', they are spending every minute of their time putting more focus to detail on this car than one could possibly imagine. Whereas Dodge basically slapped together a 2-door Charger, and was touting it as one of the least expensive cars they've ever had to put together...Those aren't very impressive balls to me, anyway.

No one ever said it was a 'slow' car. But it COULD have been so much more...as it stands right now, the performance isn't awe-inspiring for a car with that much power.

huh, and huh?
What does aftermarket FI, and the G8 have to do with anything?

I totally agree with you about the challengers numbers, they should be alot better. I am just defending it because most on this forum trash it as if it was slow. I thank you for giving credit where credit is due. Also don't tell me that chevy didn't hold out just to see what dodge came up with so they could go more into detail and refine and make sure it was a notch above dodge. That is where I think dodge had the balls. I can't wait for 2010. With the rumored 6.4 and the camaro in the picture I can't wait.

the g8 was used to defend the charger that a forum member was bashing another members charger.

I'm not one to put up a biased defense if I can help it....but really, can you blame anyone here (me, too -- I've done it!) for tearing into the Mopar? It's a Camaro forum, after all!

I am telling you; there was no sitting around. I'll grant that they may have altered plans along the way as more info on the Challenger came out, but delaying the release of this car just so they could "wait and see" probably wasn't considered a good idea, given the timeframe they had to work within.

I think Dodge rushed their car to market. Which GM could have done; but I'm 100% glad they didn't.

*disclaimer; this is all me assuming things based on what I've been reading for the past two years. I haven't been told, nor was involved with any of the Camaro's development.

Yea absoutely, dodge rushed it because they were going to the sh@tter and needed to rush this to make money ahead of chevy and the 2010 mustang. Hopefully they use the money wisely and develop a lighter challenger for 2010.

Oh and I myself am guilty of being bias at times over at the challenger forum but as you said sometimes we can't help it. I am glad I can have some good discussion over here as well.

i think this is a healthy debate, which honestly makes me smile.

Mopar Vs. Chevy. Again.

i think the challenger is a sharp car, and i really do hope they make a lighter version.

AND IT CAN BE DONE!!!

Dodge just released the challenger "Drag pack" where they took off OVER 1000 LBS!!!!

.... then again, they also took out things like airbags and powersteering. ha.
