Welcome and it's definitely an upgrade! I drove a Challenger. Looks sweet, but it's still a Dodge unfortunately. Interior was crappy and rode like a gravel truck.

Welcome! Where in central PA are you? If you're anywhere near Harrisburg/York area you should join us at some SCPA5 (South Central PA 5th gen+ Camaro owners) events. We all would be happy to answer any questions you and/or your wife may have about the cars.

Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, wives', husbands, girlfriends and boyfriends here don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!

Oh, my Challenger is going nowhere. Love it

The Camaro will be for the wife. I sat in one at the Chicago auto show 2 or 3 years ago and it felt like a coffin. Top of my head stuck out the the sunroof even with the seat as low as it would go.

Before I bought my Challenger, I compared the "big 3" muscle cars. Interior and cargo space in both the Camaro and Mustang were pretty much non-existant compared to the Challenger. I'm too big to be comfortable in the Camaro. Good chance I'll ride in it as little as possible and probably never drive it. In fact, we're going to have to keep the Grand Cherokee she drives now for runs to the grocery store and any time we go somewhere with one of our sons.

The Camaro will be a 3 season car for sure. Probably be used from late April to early November depending on weather. Rest of the time it'll sit in the garage next to my Challenger. I have a company vehicle for work luckily.

Live just south of Reading. Does SCPAS have a website or something where your events are listed?

If you have Instagram you can follow us on the link in my signature. The events we try to hit up are posted there. Also, keep an eye on the NY/NJ/PA regional forums for additional meets and info on the meets themselves. Being in Reading you might also check out the SEPA5 folks too (Southeast PA 5th gen + Camaro owners).

I'm not sure how big of a guy you are, but at 7' tall I enjoy driving my Camaro. Obviously I had to opted for a sunroof free car. The 5th gen is much better on room than the 6th gen. I will agree that the Challenger is the most spacious of the three pony cars. The '15+ Mustangs interiors are the best I've been in (post fox body) for room. Really 5th gen Camaros aren't as bad as people sometimes say they are for room though.

My buddy is 6'6" or there abouts and has a Challenger. I love the way they look, but the girlfriend has a Dodge work vehicle (Grand Caravan) and both of them have such crappy interiors. Cheap plastics that break and parts falling off. His steering column cracked and he babies that car. Then his rear rotor seized. Their quality is so much lower than ford and GM. I wish you luck with both cars.

Thanks, I'll definitely do that!

I shoulda said fat, haha. Maybe if I have a pair of cowboy boots on I'm at 6' but in sneakers I think I'm 5'11". I was really surprised when I sat in the Camaro at the auto show. I'm sure I could have reclined the seat a bit and it wouldn't have been a problem, but it definitely got my attention. I didn't realize my head was sticking out until I noticed how high on the windshield my eye-line was. I'll definitely have to keep that in mind when we start going out to look at cars. I'm also going to compare the interior specs of the 5th & 6th gen cars to see how different they are. Might even compare them to my Challenger since that will give me a good reference point.

Thanks. I've not had a lick of trouble with my Challenger. I have about 28K on my car in 4 years of owning it (bought it new...actually I ordered it exactly how I wanted it). There was 1 serious recall on it that was to do with the timing chain guard breaking. Talk among owners is that we feel it had to do with the timing chain slapping when the MDS system kicked in/out while at highway speeds. Of the people who had the failure, on the Challenger forum I'm on reported, all were doing around 70mph in cars with auto transmissions. None were in autostick mode, which disables the cylinder cutoff MDS system. Chrysler never copped to the cause but it seems likely that was it. MDS was disabled on my car via tuner when the S/C was installed. Enough about Challengers, eh!

I can tell you right now, if the 5th gen was too narrow for you, then you're going to HATE the 6th gen. It is an incredible machine with tons of performance ability, but it is very tight fitting. Probably about as tight as the outgoing Mustang interior. I've always liked the roomyness of the Challengers. You might actually still have a backseat in a Challenger vs. any of the other pony cars.
