Hyundai Santa Cruz Concept details
I think this would do very well in today market if they build and can actually get the Gas mileage they claim I also think it looks great and the target market they are going for is smart. But will they build it and will it look as good as the concept. |

Looks cool, but the production version would not look anything like that unfortunately.

No need in starting a new thread. This truck (or however it's classified) is a go!

Nice...I thought this was an interesting concept actually.
So now to ponder another thought. If the new Honda Ridgeline "truck" and this "truck"...(being I believe they are both on UCV like frames and front wheel drive) really take off in sales...basically proving that people want a small, comfortable, and efficient vehicle with a bed....what is the next move for Colorado/Canyon and Tacoma, and last but not least, the Ranger? I don't think this, or the Honda will tow or haul or do offroading quite like the Colorado/Canyon/Tacoma, but then again, most people that just want a small truck with a bed don't care much about any of that. Now, I still see a used 2nd gen Colorado or Canyon in my future to replace my current Colorado crew Z71, but I'll be very curious to see how these new offerings do.

Well, I think they want to look like they are in a truck, and not a car with a bed. That's the deal, in my opinion.

This is what I’m looking for. I’ve moved and need a little city vehicle for my 3 mile commute to work. I’ve made a couple dozen trips to Home Depot and Lowes since the move and only having the Camaro was not fun on those trips. Having a “truck” that drives like a car, fits in the garage easily, and can fit in small parking spaces would be perfect for my situation. I don’t need the capabilities of a full or mid-size truck and the price tags on those thing are absurd.
For those that don’t know, this is being built on the Hyundai Tucson platform, which is their sub-compact SUV, and should have the options for FWD and AWD. From what Hyundai is saying they are not targeting the current established truck market. So we’ll see if the market they going for approves.

YES, this IS already set for production.....HOWEVER, there has a been a few MINOR changes.....the production version is going to be a 4 DOOR. not the cool looking coupe. That little bit of info was released by Hyundai the day after the unveiling.

Also, after the reveal last year this writer put out an article with his rendering of what Hyundai should build. I hope it stays somewhat to the concept. The Tucson is pretty small, I don't see how they could make a normal looking truck on that platform. Back in the day they went over-the-top (for the time) with the Tiburon design. I hope they can do it again!
