and once you get the hang of it on flat ground find a incline and practice starting on that, then you will learn little tricks like using the clutch to hold the car steady and not roll with out using the brakes...then to go forward you just give it gas and let the clutch the rest of the way out
and rest your foot on the clutch always completely take your foot off and to the side |

at least he wants to learn early...purchased my camaro in a manual and couldn't even drive it off the lot... good luck kid!
