Still, no.

The SS is a slightly updated Pontiac G8 GXP. If the excitement brand were still around, it would not be the same thing as an Impala. There's like, zero way, to make the connection.

Not even close to an Impala, or even the OLD Impala SS (el barge).

Slightly updated? SS is a lot more than just an updated G8. Lots of improvements from VE to VF Commodore.

I'm not saying SS is an Impala SS. I'm saying its market position and the character of the car is in line with an Impala SS, or what it should be.

The best thing GM could do for an Impala SS with the current car is integrate the powertrain and drivetrain from XTS V-sport. But that isn't happening.

GM needs to get in the turbo 4, AWD, hot hatch market. compete with the wrx, and now ford focus.

The Chevy SS is a Caprice PPV made for civilians. Not an Impala SS.

SS and Caprice are two completely different cars.

Both are on Holden Commodore chassis. Or is that incorrect? The patrol cars we have sure are similar to the SS. Except for shifter location. And of course the cop stuff.

They extended the back 1/2 of the car to have a more trunk space, and also a little more room for perps and the protective barrier. While it is based on the Commodore, Caprice PP (Police Package) != SS.

Caprice PP = 204.2 inches.
SS length = 195.5 inches.

That 9 inches gives it a big butt. Some may like that. And they cannot lie.

Ok back to this thread. This mini v8 car was obviously never going to happen. BUT, what if they made a 5.3 option in the full size SS car? Still tons of power, but in theory it could be cheaper, and much better on gas. They might even actually sell a few of these cars with that config. I'd think about it. I probably wouldn't actually buy it, but I'd think about it. That's a hell of a lot more than I could say for their long list of front wheel drive models.

It's got a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, it's got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas. What do you say, is it the new Bluesmobile or what?

Yeah... If they would boost that little Sonic up to around 250HP - 300HP, it would be a screamer to drive! LOL!!!!
