I think its a healthy rivalry as long as both camps can respect one another....

I agree, I feel exactly the same and I'm glad to see someone else say it. Sometime around the year 2000, Ford really stepped up to the plate and improved the quality of their cars. Currently, my other car is a Ford Focus, and prior to that, I owned two Ford F150s. It helps that I am friends with a guy who owns a Ford dealership.

The Mustang is a great car, but the body style reminds me of the Mach II Mustangs of the early 70's. If Ford would have gone with a 1964-68 look, I would have been more tempted to buy one. I never was a fan of the Mach style Mustangs, not even back in the day.

Welcome to C5!

I have nothing but respect to you. Like mentioned earlier about brand loyalty, if the car is nice, the car is nice.

In the last 20 years, I have owned a Chevy, Ford, BMW and Infiniti! Ha

Welcome!

I've liked just about every generation of Mustang except for the Pinto-based Mustang II or whatever it was. GM had a few dark days in Camaro history as well, including the 4-cylinder equipped 3rd Gens and some of the very strange Quantum Leam -type interior ergonomics of the Berlinettas of the same time period.

I can't say I like the Mustang's current gen turbo 4 cylinder, but at least it's got some power. I'm sure GM has something similar coming-- times are changing-- but at least we're still able to enjoy bread-and-butter 6's and some nice tuned up V8's!!

To the OP:
I had a 2005 mustang GT and I loved that car, drove it till there was literally water going from the hood into the passenger side footwell! I only got rid of it because I went away to college and needed something more weather friendly. As soon as I graduated and came home I got my 13 SS. I love both of the cars but that mustang (and granted it was a few years ago now) doesn't hold a candle to the performance and handling of the SS. I really like the 2005-2009 body style, like the 2010-2013 a little less. Now that they got rid of the 4 fog lights across the front they really lost me tho. just my 2 cents

After growing up in a die hard GM family and having to work on 460's, 351's, and whatever other Ford made engines that ventured into my fathers shop, I honestly cannot stand Ford products. Give me a 350, 454, and a 427 any day of the week to rebuild. Die hard GM guy here.

I grew up the same way. Back then, Fords were a huge pain to work on. Everything was engineered backwards. Times have changed. I know that as a random guy on the internet, I will never change your mind. But Ford is a lot different now. They really are nicely put together and easy to work on.

You think Fords engineering was backwards, ever dealt with any gas International engines from pickups/trucks? When those would show up I would cringe.

I think anyone who doesnt appreciate what Ford, Chevy and Dodge are doing right now while they can, just isn't an enthusiest. I respect all of them. Even what Ford did with the handling on the last gen Mustang with a solid rear axle was extremely impressive. That being said.. I could never switch either. But I always keep in the back of head the saying I heard once "brand loyalty is for suckers" But I still have to go off of my own likes and experiences.

I respect what you said op but if you have zero interest in switching over, what is the point in joining this forum? I never got why people do this..

They have always looked meaner than the Mustangs. I especially like the '02 SS Camaro, best body style yet. The new Z/28 and ZL1's are downright menacing as well. I could never switch over though considering my loyalty to Ford, but I just wanted to let you guys know I have always respected late model Camaro's. They are badass cars and I love the pushrod engines. I remember when LS1's were top dog before the 03/04 Cobra came out. I bought my 03 Cobra brand new in December of '02. It now sits in the garage next to the GT500.

Anyways, g'day.
that's a lot healthier and more open-minded attitude than you're likely to see here. don't let the blind c5 loyalty get to you.

I traded my Camaro for a Ford Fiesta ST iast October after two mizzable years of ownership. the ST is a way better car in every respect. around town, road trips handling, etc.

I was a Ford guy too. Started with fox body Mustangs. Bought the '03 Cobra brand new when it came out. Just got my first Camaro and I'm lovin' it. Still like Fords too. I'm not a brand loyal guy. I've got a Dodge Ram truck. Wife drives a Honda Odyssey. I've got both Ski-Doo and Polaris snowmobiles. But my Ranger boat...there's where I am pretty brand loyal! But if someone came up with something as good or better. I'd look at it.
