No, I get that. I once had a professional jump rope that was even supposed to count calories burned (no idea what happened to it). It will kick your butt, but I guarantee I cannot do that in the living room of my house in front of the wall mounted TV without rattling everything in the house no matter how lightly I jump. If the garage had heat/air conditioning, maybe. I know it sounds like I have an excuse for everything, but I have been trying to find solutions for my exercize issue off & on for years & have already run through a lot of these things. I'll have to post some pics of the space I have available so you get the idea. I will still look through some of the routines posted & try to find one that might work or that I can do modifications of (I have gotten pretty good at coming up with modifications. On Fridays I can make it to our civic center before they close & some days when I get off early & traffic is not bad I can go there before they close. Don't read me wrong or give up on giving me ideas. I want to find a solution.

It sound like you are in the same category as the above mentioned, you have good intensions but you just won't commit to it. It's like the "dieters" looking for the magic pill. If you really want to do it you will make it happen. It's not easy if it was EVERYONE would do it. I can't hold your hand, I can't do the workouts for you, you have to just do it and yes, honestly, they are just excuses. You can just do body weight exercises, anything, JUST GET OFF OF YOUR BUTT AND DO SOMETHING!!!! The time it takes to read and post on here is enough time to break a sweat if you really want to. |

A machine at my house would just collect dust if I had a place to put it. I literally have wall to wall furnature. My exercise space at home is the walking space between the couch & TV. I can't have a machine sitting there. I won't even do those at the gym. I'd rather run the track. I will get it figured out. I just know myself well enough to know long term what I will & won't stick to. Joining a gym might be the answer, maybe a personal trainier, but funds are tight right now. And I have to figure out how to fit in a time to go and make it a routine. I know I can do stuff in a few min here & there. That is why I have been hall walking, using my mat & floor exercizes & my dumbells at home; I even brought some weighted balls to work. All better than nothing but not enough for what I want & need; a time/place for a serious workout that becomes part of my daily routine. I'll figure it out. Just have not figured it out yet.

If you have dumbells you can do a complete workout, you don't need massive amounts of weight, what you need is determination and drive. That you cannot buy, it's within you. |

You just can't put a stair climber in the middle of the floor between the couch & TV LOL. Honestly, though, I promise, It would be a waste of money. I hate those things. I know I can do a full workout with my dumb bells plus my ankle weights & weighted balls. I have done it before. I'll get myself together one of these days. You'll see.

When it comes to getting in shape i have come to the opinion you have to find something thats enjoyable for it to stick long term. For cardio my passion is mountain biking its quite enjoyable. As for weight training im always changing up my routines it keeps things fresh and interesting. This may not work for most folks but it works for me and keeps me training and thats what counts imo. The other important thing as many have mentioned is nutrition its huge. For me i hate bland food so i use spice's or sauce's like franks hot sauce. Some will say the sodium is high but losing 40+ pounds and dropping close to 10 inch's off my waist its safe to say a little sodium wont hurt you.

Well I did manage to get up a little early & do some exercises to kick start my day. I have some leftovers from supper last night to take for lunch today so no packaged lunch today. I will try to do some walking again today at work. One step at a time.

Ruby my wife and i did the fitness journey together. This is a women who has struggled with weight loss her whole life. She has done every diet ever made and the same thing always happens she gains it all back. All the fad diets are designed to fail. This time she just ate healthy foods, kept her calories below her daily TDEE and as she found out through trial and error keeps her carbs low. She tracked everything though myfitnesspal app. Results 75 LBS lost and looks amazing. She is quite an inspiration to others like her. It can be done it just takes time and willpower you can do it.

I have done it before. I had almost made it to my target before my job location changed & screwed up everything I had in place to help get me there. It has just been a struggle to find a new routine that works with the new situation.

All I hear is excuses....and they are all bullshit and that is why you continue to make these threads over the years, and why you continue to fail, and why you will always fail. I have no time....sure you do....it's just not a priority. I have no space.....sure you do but let's say you don't...then join a gym. And in your area if you joined here.... https://www.facebook.com/pages/Vital...82311581907214 And did nothing but push the prowler (the orange triangular thing they are pushing in the parking lot) it would change your life. Oh that's right.....funds are tight. Again it's not a priority. So maybe spend less time on C5 starting threads, less time reading threads, less time responding to threads, and less time AND money doing Music City Camaro cruises and that will pretty much take care of everything. Or if you are going to take a cruise, cruise over to Cookeville so you can learn something. Problem is.... You don't want it bad enough...I've posted it before and I'll post it again...

A lot of truth there and I own that. I know the "excuses" are not impossible to overcome, It can be done. I just have to figure it out, make a plan & execute. It is just not as easy as all that. But It will happen.
But there IS more to life than fitness. And life is complicated sometimes. I know part of it is that I am teetering on the verge of depression right now. I'm just not happy with the situation most of which I cannot change. I have lost much of my social support (my mother, my kids, my exercize class friends, my work friends, etc). My MCCC friends & C5 are what I have left for social support and, perhaps I could spend a little less time on C5 but I NEED what is left of my social support system. The therapist in me knows I have to take care of both my physical health & my emotional/psychological health. I did exercize this morning during some of the time I might have otherwise been surfing C5 & have been doing that more lately. MCCC activities also push me to stay active. I detailed Ruby while I was at the cruise-in last evening. That was exercize. It takes a lot of physical activity to do a serious job of hand washing & detailing these huge cars! That IS exercize. And I am very OCD about it, everything, wheels, wheel wells, engine bay, trunk, undercarrage, cleaner wax, wax, glass sealer, detailer............the whole nine yards. Without the events I would not do all that. You guys keep pushing & I will keep working on getting myself into a new routine!

Remember detailing the Camaro is a good workout! Do you go by any fitness centers on your way to work? Easy to get in a routine before work, if one is handy.

We will keep pushing, and asking and making you think about it Ruby. You are so very right about how "easy" it sounds, but life is always there to smack you in the face. I know, all to well about that. I would love to make my workouts a priority each day, but I can't. I have bills to pay, and somewhere after that, rest and then other things I do truly enjoy. So workouts fall to third or fourth on the list. Through the summer, it's even harder. Winter time, car in the garage, no cruises, no car shows, no meetings... that time is now dedicated to workouts.
We are here with you Ruby, you have the same issues, same daily grind, same working life many others have. We are all enjoying this one big boat we share. When you find that grove that works, where you can workout, can do some exercise, make it count. I have had some pretty big projects with some ugly issues going on here at my work. I have been able to hit the gym three times in the past 18 days. Am I happy about that, heck no, but I just can't tell my boss that "well I need to go and do squats, see you tomorrow". I like that paycheck and my job. So, we are here to encourage each other, and to understand that life is a thorn at times. But we do what we can, and make the best of what we can. |
