I still don't understand why Pontiac couldn't be reduced to two or three vehicles instead of being completely scrapped. It could have been a niche brand. They could have a Firebird or GTO built off the new Camaro's platform, the G8 and the Solstice (although the Saturn Sky looks MUCH better).

Part of it is that GM has people high up working for it who don't even particularly care about cars.

Niche brands are expensive. That money could be spent for something else that's more important right now.

Well at least the cars have better technology, mpg's, and are safer now. Although I lost all power in a rainstorm "back in the day" in a '74 Buick and crashed through a stone wall...walked away without a scratch. No seatbelt on either (they were just things you stuffed in the crease between the bench and seat back)! The car was a tank.
