2012 Code 130R Concept

And the 2014 CTS

They don't share a single major dimension with each other & their proportions are clearly quite different. There isn't really anything that I can see about Alpha that dictates how a car built off of it will look.
It may end up being a disappointment, because IMO the domestic new car designs have lapsed into an era of generic and lifeless shapes; More disturbing is the fact that some current designs that feature flat and lifeless form seems to be widely accepted. There have been some exceptions to the bland styling status quo that has taken over many of domestic designs in the last 25 years; The Camaro has been an exception to the cookie cutter bland design jargon, and the Malibu has taken a brave effort in getting away from the look of predictability.

Not for anything, my description above was aimed directly at the ATS. If the Camaro is built on this chassis, it will have an effect on its shell dimensions. That's not to say that the car should be boring, but that the Camaro will need to work (struggle) to stay away from the steam-lined and IMO boring and predictable look that this ATS coupe seems to exhibit.

lolwut.

Malibu is probably one of the more boring cars in the lineup right now. The '14 refresh helped slightly but the side profile of the car is utterly forgettable.

And Alpha is easily scalable. You really can't use ATS Coupe to figure much about the 6th gen simply because it's still a ways off.

I can tell you right now the engine lineup for ATS in a short while will be completely different than what it is now.

^The Malibu is no more boring than this ATS; In fact to me it might even be a little more interesting to look at.

The point that I'm making is that for what they may ask for the ATS coupe, the flat styling leaves a little to be desired. The car looks like it wants to be longer, or at least its reaching for something that's not quite there.

Its pleasant, but at the same time it doesn't excite the imagination. My honest op.

Malibu's a snoozefest.

This at least has some interesting lines to it. If you're going off the renders, don't. GM sucks at making them.

How short a while? Are we talking a MY 2015 revamp, or further out? I know you've already mentioned dropping the 2.5L for '15. LGX and LF3, or a V8?

Won't be for 2015 (or we would've seen it with this Coupe).

I'm not positive yet, but I think I actually like the sedan better.

They just wanted to make it more modern. It's not that bad. There would be a lot less discussion about it if they hadn't announced the change.
