this makes way for the LT5, which historically is the correct engine for the zr1, and I think it's pretty cool.

and lets not forget that the original LT5 was a DOHC engine. things that make you go hmmmm...
Did Mark Reuss tell you himself?

EDIT: The C3 had an LT1
"The ZR1 special engine package was a $1,221.00 option available exclusively with the LT-1 engine option. It included the solid-lifter small-block engine, heavy-duty four-speed transmission, power brakes, aluminum radiator, and a revised suspension with special springs, shocks, stabilizer bar, and spindle-strut shafts. Since it was competition equipment, the ZR1 could not be ordered with power windows, power steering, air conditioning, a rear-window defogger, wheel covers, or a radio. Only 53 1970-1972 ZR1's were built"

The C4 had the LT5, and the C6 had the LS9, so "historically" it can use any of those.

I just watched a video on MT with Reuss talking about the C7 and the Z/28. He said an interesting thing when he was talking about keeping Wixom open so they would have enough LS7s. He said that he wanted the Z/28 to be the last car to have the LS7 in it's current form. Also, he spent a good amount of time talking about high revving small blocks and how important it is to the Z06 and Z/28, which leads me to believe that it will have a successor.

No he didn't, but I'm not the one making ridiculous statements and saying they're 100% fact.

Chill bro, you know those Facebook pages are always 100% accurate with their info. If those aren't, the comments sure as hell are.

So the remaining question is: Is the engine, pictured, actually the LT4? Or will this s/c engine be designated "something else"?

Hope it's true, Kev...

Even legendary icons, like a Z06, have to evolve... the all-new C7 already validates this.

Very true. I've been saying that the GM guys are sneaky SOB's for a while now... lol

That is engraved/milled on the top though...

...and GM Powertrain doesn't have access to a CNC...

In 4 short weeks (Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!) we'll have NAIAS. And THEN we'll know.

All this angst and hand-wringing may be for naught.

...or NOT!

Oh I know they are MORE than capable. That just seems like a lot of trouble to go through for shenanigans...

Change is only good when it improves something. Forced induction does not improve the Z06.
