Just got "The Call".
Dealership wanted to charge $645. We called around to another shop in town that would offer the part for $497. We called Nissan back and told them that if they didn't lower the price, we'd have the car towed to the other shop. 5 minutes later, Nissan called us back and said they'd give us a warranty, labor, and the part for $457. The car will be ready sometime tomorrow. Thanks to all that helped me out. |

$645 to replace an alternator is highway robbery. That's more than it cost to replace my Envoy's water pump.

glad you got it all sorted out. at my dealer here in pittsbugh that job is right around $650 to. you got to take in consideration that part is half of that price. nissan parts are not cheap, and nissans do not like aftermarket parts. GM parts are dirt cheap compaired to nissan

For that price it should have been a lifetime warranty like I got.

Can you post some pics of your modded Maxima.
My buddy is going to be buying his dads 01 SE 5 speed w/ 130k in a couple of months and he has plans on doing a few mods. I drove it the other day and it didn't handle as well as I thought it would. It felt like it could really use upgraded sway bars/ bushings and a set of summer tires. It didn't feel as fast as my buddy's old 92 or the 05 I rented but I felt better once I looked at the speedometer and saw I was going much faster then I thought.

Most people don't notice it, but the car is pretty heavy. Funny enough, it's more of a straight line car. Next time you drive your friends car, gun it. The engine is impressive. It's still a work in progress. I'm ordering a front splitter this month. Then tint for the side markers and fogs then I'll lower it. And fix that stupid dent in the front. ![]()

Took it within a few rpm of its 6,600 rpm redline about five or six times and got it up to triple digit speeds. It didn't have the push you back in your seat feel or a v-tec like kick in the upper rpm's but it sure got up to speed quickly.I did a google search and the manual transmission models are just under 3,200lbs which in my book isn't pretty heavy and that's why I expected it to handle a bit better. It did have all season tires and my friend said it handled a lot better when it had summer tires on it. We were also at 3,500' elevation and the two of us weigh about 500lbs combined although he did have 91 octane in the tank which he said helps. I like the look of the black wheels on yours. We plan on plasti dipping them and the grill black once he gets it.
