My reason for going private is because generally speaking pay is better and you have a little more room to get a promotion than with the state.
Oh trust me, climbing the ladder with the state is a nightmare. Going up the pay scale is even worse.

On the other hand, the state pays for a lot of stuff. I have zero commute costs, my Internet bill is paid for monthly, I have a pretty kick-ass health insurance plan, basic life insurance free of charge, and my job is pretty secure. Plus I work on my own schedule.

Speaking of which, is "satisfactorily" a word? Because I wrote that on an inspection form today.

Everything you just mentioned is why I would think of staying with a state agency. Really I am open to anything and am not locked down on having to go to a private sector job or vise versa

That leaves me with options and most likely what I will end up doing is find a full time job with the state in Tallahassee after graduation and then work on my masters and go from there.

I've been working in government contracting for my whole career. about 10 years now. 3 different companies, but I left on my own terms.

Depends on the state. You guys live in wealthier states. I know several state employees in Michigan and nothing is paid for. We have no money because we give it all to the people who choose not to work.

This is true. I will have to do my research and see what will work out best for me when the time comes along. Still got another 2 years to figure it all out. But first I would like to do my Masters because most of the time for many people if you don't do it right out of college your whole life you will be saying your going to get to it but you never do.

The state does take care of its employees, I'll say that.

I'm thinking on and off about doing my Master's. Not sure if I can subject myself to that again.
