Traded in 2 vehicles & got a new daily driver

Goodbye Crossfire & Yukon & hello Altima coupe. We had grown tired of playing musical cars in the driveway. Both the Crossfire & Yukon had some mechanical problems in need of attention, both needed tires and insurance on & all 7 of our modes of transportation was coming due. Yep, it was time to do some trading. I am pretty choosy about my cars so I had a hard time finding something I was happy with. I realy wanted to go with a chevy but I wanted a mid size coupe so???????????? no real Chevy options. I thought about a Malibu but I just did not want a 4 door & the Malibu seems a but under powered to me with it's size compared to it's 4 cylinder engine. If there had been a V6 option, I might have gone that way.

So I went out & test drove some different things. I drove some Cadillac CTS's & they were really nice but even with high mileage they were still really more $ that I wanted to spend. I drove a used Altima coupe but it had been driven by a manager at the dealership which at first sounded good. Then the sales guy mentioned she had 2 kids and another on the way & wanted a SUV. I started looking around & saw crumbs of candy around the inside & what looked like splashed of soda on dash controls and an ant crawling inside. Then Mike saw the carfax report & it had had some passenger side damage repaired. NO. Looking further we learned they are not going to make the coupe anymore in 2014 and there was one last one on the lot. So I went back & drove it. It only had 20 miles on it and still had all plastic coverings in place on the inside. Much better. They clearly wanted it off the lot as it was priced not that much more than the used one & had incentives. So Mike joined me at the dealership after work yesterday to see if we could come to terms with them. It took some significant haggling but we got there.

Now we have a lower monthly payment than we had on the Crossfire and a MUCH better interest rate, don't have to deal with repairs & tires. The Cruze we leased for our son before he left for the army goes back in a couple of weeks and our insurance should be significantly less.

So, here are pics of the cars we said goodbye to & my new daily driver:

nice, looks so much better in the coupe than the usual boring 4 door ones.

Yeah, That's what I thought. There are way too many vanilla sedans on the road. And I had driven an Accord Coupe a couple of years ago. I didn't think it had enough get-up-and-go when I took it up the rim of the Nashville Basin. And I think this one is a little sexier.

Altimas are nice cars. My mother has one as a company car that I've been in a couple times, and they are pretty comfortable. Much better traveling car than a Yukon (and you still have a truck anyway). And you can never go wrong getting rid of a Crossfire.

Is that a 4 or 6-cyl? And do the coupes have the CVTs like the 4-doors do?

The CVT is pretty cool. We drove Pepper (her new name) to Clarksville today & it is easy & fun to drive. I look foward to driving her to work.

I have two Nissans. One's a 2001 Nissan Maxima and the other's a 2011 Nissan Juke.

The Maxima has 195,5xx miles on it and still runs like a charm. The only major thing it's needed are cat converters. Which are the norm. But in a state with no inspections, I don't worry about them.

The Juke has 26,xxx miles on it and has the CVT transmission that is in yours. Never had any problems with it.

I believe your Altima will treat you right.

I still have my Sierra & my Camaro. They were the ones important to me. Mike was the one in love with the Crossfire & Yukon. The Crossfire was fun to drive & it helped keep a bunch of miles off the Camaro. But both had mechanical issues that needed to be addressed & would start having more. It was time.

I hope so. I will be putting 73ish miles a day in it with my daily commute so it will add up pretty quickly. Wow! 195,5XX Mi & no real issues! That is impressive.
