I love all of the big three and have a fondness for some of the German and Japanese offerings. But GM is still #1 in my book and to the people who are talking down on chevy saying the camaro is their only good offering obviously haven't sat in a Chevy or GM vehicle besides the camaro since 2010. Check out the new ATS, CTS, Silverado, Impala, Cruze, and Sierra.

The 64 Ford was a first car beater, the original motor finally let go in the mid 80's. It was a tough car and had the battle scars to prove it. The most disappointing car was the Saturn, just didn't have it. Both Mazdas were very reliable and the MX-6 was a great car. If it had been rear wheel drive, I'd probably still own it. Both BMWs were great driver cars and I modded the snot out of them. The first for go and the second was more show than go. The M-B was a nice car for carrying people around but never inspired passion. The '13 SS...I adore that car. It ranks up there with my second BMW. I never get tired of looking at it. It has the most beautiful lines of any car I have owned, and the most throw you back in your seat oomph. 6.2L will do that. The only downside so far is the mileage, I avg about 13mpg. Was avg about 16 when I first got it, then about 400 miles in, the mpg dropped noticeably. It does inspire a bit of a lead foot, but, still. No drving style differences between the first 400 and the last 1000. I have tried to buy a Dodge on a couple of occasions and could just never get a decent deal, so I walked. Never been a hemi worshiper. End of the day it is still just a motor and with variable values and electronic ignition, it is no more effective or efficient in practical terms than any other motor. If Mazda was still making an RX-7. It would have been a difficult choice between that and the SS. Hoping the next car is a Pantera. Always loved those cars. Only car mfg I hate is Hyundai. My ex-wife had one of those...what a pile of bleep. |

I was a hater on cars period. My mind was on just trucks, until of course the camaro.

Not a Hater of any car manufacturer. There are some I just wouldnt buy. But I get whatever appeals to me at the time, and GM has done that for me so far (had 2 GTO's and a Camaro). If Ford makes the Mustang more appealing (to me)....I'm in. Waiting to see if the 'Cuda becomes a reality.

I used to be an unapologetic import snob.
After my Dad's 81 Citation and my 84 Celebrity when I was younger, I swore that I would never own another American car. By 2000, my wife was driving a Lexus GS-400 and I was driving a Porsche 911. I impulse bought the Porsche off the showroom floor in a moment of stock bubble exuberance. At the time, there was a waiting list, but this was an extra allocation to the local Porsche dealer from the Seattle Auto Show (the window sticker said that the dealer was the Seattle Auto Show). After almost a year with the Porsche, it just wasn't doing it for me, especially considering the amount of money I had tied up in it. So with less than 9000 miles on the odometer, I traded it (at a huge loss) for a 2000 Corvette convertible. Since that Corvette, I haven't looked back. I *loved* that car, and would never have believed that GM could build it. I've since upgraded to a 2008 Corvette convertible for summer driving and have the 2011 Camaro SS for my daily driver. I also have a 2004 Cavalier that I bought to tow behind our motorhome. Actually, I should say that I think I have a 2004 Cavalier. Somehow, my 17 year old son has - with the help of my wife - adopted it as his own. My owning a Camaro is actually an offshoot of my son starting to drive. We live in an area where it's not practical to get along without a car (even though I live in near Seattle, we are 10 miles from the nearest grocery store, and there are no bus stops anywhere near). I wanted to get him a beater car so that he could learn to work on it. But my wife insisted that he use my Cavalier because she wanted him in a reliable car. Since I was using the Cavalier as a daily driver in winter, I told her that if she gave him the Cavalier, I would need to get myself a new daily driver. I was clear that I was going get a nicer car and not just a straight replacement. I told her that I was thinking BMW 3 series or the like. It was a bit of a bluff because I really didn't want to spend that much money on an extra car, but she called my bluff. I gave myself a $25k budget and started shopping. I drove lots of cars, but fell in love with the Camaro. I was originally going to get a V6, but my Chevy dealer (who had, by now, sold me 5 new cars previously) made me an offer that I couldn't pass up on a 2SS/RS that had been on the lot for a while. It was optioned exactly the way I would have ordered it and was my first choice in color. So now I am a reformed import snob and am happy to have 3 Chevrolets. I am also happy to be buying from an American company. My wife's current Acura MDX is over 220K miles and will need to be replaced soon. You can be sure that we are going to look at GMs offerings in our search. -Wade |

My previous couple of cars were Honda's. My wife had a Dodge Grand Caravan and it was loaded. Nice mini van just a piece of crap. The car was recalled like 5 times in the first two years we had it, the oil kept leaking and at 35k miles we had to have a new engine put in. It was covered so it wasn't a big deal. But it soiled me on Dodge. When I was looking at new cars I wanted a challenger. But I didn't want a Dodge because of the reputation and my experience with the GC. I picked the Camaro because mainly of the 5 star safety rating and the performance of it. And I loved the way it looks, more so than the Mustang and the Challenger. So safe to say as of right now I am happy being a Chevy man.

I didnt like the car upon release maybe it was just becuase of all the hype, but i bought one this year. My cousin always used to love these cars and he was the one that eventually got me looking hard at them.

I am die hard gm. Grew up around it. But ive always been in love with trans ams. 1st second 3rd and 4th gen camaros to me were like the retarded twin brother of them. 1st car was a 94 trans am. Second was an 89 and 3rd was a 77 ta. Then 5th gen came out and there was nothing I didnt like about them. I had to have one. But in all honestly if pontiac was still around id be in a trans am not a camaro right now.

Ive always been a Ford guy.
And while I strongly dislike GM, for reasons including being Fords competitor as well as too big to fail, if there was no Mustang and (hypothetically) the Camaro/Firebird still existed, I'd probably be driving a 98-02 SS/Trans Am. Maybe a C5/6 Z06, but there is a significant price difference there as well. I'll never buy a foreign car new, and there are very very few I would purchase used (all of which are sports cars). I suppose if I won a large lottery pay out I might consider a new Jag/Ferrari/Lambo but that is quite unlikely. My wife insisted on buying a Malibu (new 2011) for some reason. I'm not a big fan, rather have a Fusion of the same year, but that goes back to brand favoritism.
