Makes no sense to leave last gen engines in the next gen HDs.

I SO much like the looks of the new generation better. The last generation was too soft, and stale. It looks, to me, like this time, they are trying to make a truck look like a truck.

Makes perfect business sense.

Not sure why you think GM would need to upgrade powertrains when they are pretty close to class leading for the HD segment.

They just updated them all 2 years or so ago. All new would just be a waste of money.

Also you assume that the new V8 automatically is set up for HD service. You don't just plop the Corvette motor into a HD and call it a day. The engines in the HD segment are engineered for that segment.

The diesels are fine and I'm not sure what the penetration is, but guessing the gas engine is the lower volume, but just a guess.

GM will likely update them mid term just like they did the last time around. Get the bang for the buck on the new body and appointments, then do it all over again in two years with new powertrains.

I think diesels make up like 60-70% of GM HD trucks sales. Possibly more.

That is what is scary. Any one can walk into a Ram dealership and buy a truek that can tow 30,000lbs without a special license. That's almost 40,000lbs going down the road. Same with motor homes.

Hope they were smart enough to put the def tank somewhere other than where it has been. Probably was one of the worst designs ive ever seen.

I don't know anything about your dad, but in PA if it weighs more than 26000lbs gross a stand license is not valid to drive it.

You technically need a Class B to tow over 26k pounds.

I like the front of the HD Chevy much more than the non HD versions. I think it makes the trucks look wider and lower. The non HD models just look to bulky in the front ends.
