Buick Regal - Thoughts

Looking for a new DD. I'm between a Regal Turbo (Non-GS) and a Ford Fusion (previous generation. I'm not looking for speed and I realize that though these 2 have manual options the engine isn't a performance one. Does anyone own a 11-12 Regal? Looks like a really nice car for the money. Any insight is appreciated.

Can you wait a bit? The '14 Regals have the LTG from the ATS standard. Plus you can get AWD as an option now.

I did see the 2014 is a HUGE step fwd versus the 2011-12 I'm looking at, but the new ones are definitely out of my price range. It would be 2016 before I could look at those cars. Thank you though.

Ah I gotcha. Well Regals are really nice cars. I've always said it's one of the best cars out there that nobody really knows about.

Something else to look into is Verano Turbo. Same engine as Regal Turbo but it's tuned up a bit for more HP. It's a smaller vehicle, although Verano is easily one of the best values for your money.

I don't own one but would like to. They are great looking cars.

Also keep in mind that the early Regals were built in Germany and imported. The Oshawa production started later. I think the German built Regals didn't have the fake vents on the hood. And the turbo with 270 HP in the GS will give you that wonderful torque steer feeling. But a really nice car all around based on the ones I've driven.

Regal GS has HiPer strut. Torque steer will be there but minimized.

Good call on the Verano Turbo. Hopefully I can find a manual.

Here's a review three GMI editors put together for Verano Turbo. I think you'll find it to be a great daily driver.

But still a front wheel drive and still torque steer. Have you driven one an put your foot into it?

Having done this in a GS... I would agree with you.

We have a Regal in the family. Build, fit and finish is exceptional. The Turbo is the sweet spot. We drove both and the NA engine just wasn't enough.

Having driven a Regal, it is a very nice car, but it has to be the turbo. Previous version Fusions are not nearly as nice.
