Yes, because that means every car that GM builds is total ****, right?

GM originally decided not to do it because "there is nothing else like it in the market"...but somebody wisely changed their mind, and it should be coming as a 2011 model.

It's a compact crossover seated on the Delta II chassis (Cruze) much like the HHR sits on the Delta platform (Cobalt).
QFT, but IMO it needs a bit more of an agressive tune to that front; looks like a damned converse at the nose. iono..

260hp and DI

My first post by the way.

I think the thing that scares me the most about moving on to the Delta II chassis is the death of the LNF and the rest of the other current Ecotecs. The only one that seems like it will survive the jump will be the DI LE5(2.4L) that will be used in the new Equinox.

Honestly the Chevy line up doesn't have room for a RWD V8 large sedan IMO.

Just get a Cadillac. Having one of each in each line is what got GM into this trouble.

I've never heard the term "plood" before. I like it.

the g8's looks screamed fake knockoff bmw...with less sleekness...it needs its own identity...thats why the g8 was ugly...nobody likes to buy cheap knockoffs ...look at the cts styling it doesn't try to look like anybody else its unique in its own style and still looks sleek and sexy while not trying to mimic anybody else
I disagree. I thought the G8 still looked unique, clean in the same spirit as the pre-flame design language BMWs, but not copying it. Of course, the clean look only extended up to the hood, where the fake scoops ruined that, but then again it wouldn't be a Pontiac without fake tacky add-ons.

EDIT: many folks mentioned the HHR in here...fyi, it should be replaced in a year or two with something closely resembling this:
Chevrolet Orlando

Attachment 38783
I very much like the HHR. I think it is one of GM's best vehicles. The styling is unique and tasteful, it has decent utility, and the price is right. I think the Orlando is a very fine replacement. As far as I'm concerned they might as well keep the name HHR, as it has done pretty well for GM and this is clearly filling the same spot in the line-up. We'll be looking at both the Orlando/HHR and Equinox when it comes time to replace the Taurus. I'd love another wagon, but there are so very few of those on the market. That's a topic for a different thread.

I'll second this as well. My Cobalt is three years old and coming up on 40,000 miles and so far the list of problems (at least the ones not caused by idiots in the dealer's service shop) is limited to:
1. Faulty battery from the factory. Replaced before actual delivery, with an extended warranty thrown in free for piece of mind. Never had a problem since.
2. Mechanism that prevents the key from being removed when transmission is not in park malfunctioned and wouldn't allow removal of the key even when shifter was in park without considerable jiggling. Fixed in about 30 minutes under warranty.
3. Radio screen occasionally malfunctions after car has been sitting in the sun for a long period of time. Will address on next service visit.

I consider all three problems extremely minor, and this car has been as reliable as anything else on the road.

I'm hoping there is a Cruze SS with the LNF, but I worry you might be right and they will kill it off. Its such a shame, as it is an extremely efficient engine. I can't think of any competitor to the Cobalt SS other than the Mini Cooper S that gets better gas mileage, and that is pretty good company to have.

Some of us can't afford a Cadillac. The thing I've liked about GM is that they seemed willing to offer RWD at an affordable price without making us pay for a luxury badge. Now the death of Zeta seems to be marching swiftly onwards, and I'm still very skeptical Alpha will ever happen. It has been shelved too many times for me to believe anymore. On the other hand, Hyundai/Kia is having a RWD explosion. Even Kia will be getting a RWD car off the Genesis platform. Who would have thought they'd become the go-to place for enthusiasts on a budget?

Both are DI as well.

If the Zeta dies, so does the LNF.

Period.

No ifs/ands/buts about it.

There already is a Cruze SS. The red Cruze unveiled at Lordstown with vented brake discs is supposedly a debadged SS model.

From GMI. An inside source informed our editor in chief.

Link? I'm skeptical of "inside sources", and even those truly on the inside often have incomplete, outdated, or tentative information, but that's still fairly solid information so I'll be cautiously optimistic. A stock Cruze SS would be a nice daily driver while I work on a Camaro project.

I have no idea which thread on GMI it's in. What brought it about was the vented brake discs on the red Cruze unveiled at Lordstown...then we got word that it was an SS model.

The Cruze SS isn't going to use any of the current line up Ecotec.

Not with a smaller engine bay and the battery up front.
