Well, no production car is going to be exactly like its concept car. By their very nature, a concept car is a work of art. A production car, no matter how beautiful it may be, is a work of engineering. The problem is, even the most practically minded artists are not engineers. And the most aesthetically talented engineers are still not artists. So when artist types do a concept car, even with an eye towards feasibility and working within a number of limits, the engineers still won't be able to make it build-able on a mass production scale (even if its only a few hundred a week). I suppose low-volume manufacturers like Ferarri or Rolls Royce could build a car exactly like a concept if they wanted to, but even then they still have to meet various legal restrictions such as crash standards.

But all that said, if you saw a silver Camaro SS and the 2006 Concept drive by on the road at perhaps 40 mph I bet you (and most of the people on this forum) would have a hard time telling for sure which one was which. Most on Camaro5 would get it right I'm sure, but rarely with 100% certainty. With that in mind, I wouldn't be surprised if its harder to tell the Eldorado apart from the Elmiraj (well, from the outside at least -I'm sure they're going to be changing that interior)

Badges are a bit oversized IMO, but other than that, a stunning looking car.

Although I'd never take brown personally for the interior.

Anyway, probably just a "mirage" anyway to see one on the driveway

I agree. If there is one feature (or one feature missing) that really makes it stand out, it is the b-pillar.

It's always been the little details that strike me about vehicles... the features that don't smack you in the face, but later you realize "wow! that's pretty damn sexy!"

The lack of b-pillar is that, to me, for the Elmiraj.

First it's a show car. They could say it weighed 3,000 pounds if they wanted.

Second, new logo SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! JMO

It's not that bad. It's a stretched version of the current, minus the wreath. When I first heard about the change I didn't like it, but after seeing it I'm ok with it.

Seems the change is all about marketing

Cadillac Sheds its Old Logo
Quote:
Cadillac has come a long way in the last 15 years or so. The brand was once known for marketing oversized land yachts to the senior set. But, since those more lackluster days, the automaker has done a masterful job of reinventing itself, changing its image and offerings top-to-bottom in an effort to appeal to a younger, more affluent crowd.

The results of these efforts have been impressive. Cadillac has gone from selling overpriced Buick clones to competing head-to-head with world-class companies like Mercedes-Benz and BMW. And now, as part of the continuing transformation process, the company is shedding one of the last remaining symbols of the old days: its logo.

The reason is simple: marketing data says it’s the right thing to do. Surveys of potential customers show that the pair of laurels around the logo’s edges is turning car buyers off. “Outdated” and “obsolete” are words that popped up during feedback sessions. Two words that Cadillac has no desire to be associated with.

Exactly what form the new design will take won’t be known until the 2013 Pebble Beach Concours d’ Elegance, which will be held August 14th through the 18th. After its initial unveiling, it will begin to appear on cars beginning in the 2015 model year.

The change dovetails with the introduction of a new design approach that Cadillac has embraced. Known as “Art and Science,” it was the guiding style behind such concept vehicles as the Evoq and the Cien. Presumably the new logo will follow the same principles that guided the sculpting of those vehicles, including an emphasis on aggressive styling and clean, distinct edging.
