His is a daily driver. But on a more practical note yes I know about 3 people that DD a G8 with mods from intake/exhaust to LT headers and full tune and suspension mods. They canyon drive them a lot.

First gen CTS-V's maybe. No way a used V2 is going for the same price as a used G8 GT. If that's true there are a few dozen buyers on CadillacOwners.com that would like to talk to you

But the first gen CTS-V and STS-V are a great platform too and shouldn't break the bank.

I traded in my IOM G8 GT with sport/premium/roof for the Camaro. I still miss the car! It was amazing. I just couldn't afford the camaro when I got the G8 and when I got a raise at work I said it was time.

My G8 GT tranny shifted fast and was really responsive.

I drive a lot for work so I put 37k miles on the G8 in 11 months. Had it from Illinois to Oklahoma city as well as Illinois to Naples fl.

The trip to Oklahoma I averaged around 25-26mpg with Intake, DT Tri Y's and axle back. 4-5 people in the car at times and trunk full of luggage. My uncle was driving his explorer and getting pissed when I only had fill up every other time he did.

a month after getting the G8 was when chicago got hit with the first large blizzard 3 years ago that shut down lake shore drive. I was in bloomington IL (2 hours from home) and got caught in it. Took me about 4 hours to get home but it just trucked right threw the snow. Besides the AWD equinox I have now it was the best car I drove in snow on the Stock RS-A tires.

If I could afford it I would have the G8 and the Camaro.

My old G8 next to a IOM camaro

Thanks guys! Im probably going to be jumping into one in the next few weeks if all goes to plan. Im dragging my feet on getting rid of the Stang and F150, but first ultrasound in a few weeks so that will probably speed up the proccess.

Iv never had a pushrod V8 so this will be a whole new world to me. Im thinking really hard about trying to find a decent price GXP to get into, but those are hard to come by. Is the LS3 in the GXP that much better then the 6.0 that comes in the GT? I know the GT gets quite a bit better MPGs. I just dont know if the GXP warents an extra 8-14K

I had 67 maybe 68k miles on mine when I traded it in. I got 16k for it with a damaged front bumper. (on the way to the dealership I took it to one of those do it yourself washes with the touchless automatic ones at the end. Well the plate the car sits on to trigger the machine was messed up and pointing up. Went right threw my front bumper but because i was 1/4 lower then the min height recommendation (that was posted inside and you couldn't see till after you were in) there was nothing they could do.

The GXP is the only way to have a G8 in a manual trans. I've know some to do a conversion but its money.

I've driven them with a tranny tune and they shift great. Just like how the L99 Camaros need a tranny tune to improve drivability.

I traded an '09 G8 GT in for my Camaro, it had a little over 48k on it then. I miss it. It was a great car, but my wife had banned me from modding it because she drove it occasionally. She can't drive my Camaro, so I can do pretty much whatever I want to it.

G8 is the best family hauler around, who needs a minivan. Drop the kids off at school then lay 100 ft of rubber. And mine always had passing power.

I've been daily driving my G8 GT since August of last year, one thing you may want to check out with the car is if the lifters have failed and/or been replaced. A few owners including myself have had those afm lifters fail and chew up the camshaft. Luckily I still had powertrain warranty so the repair didn't cost me anything. Aside from that it has been a very good car, very quiet in stock form but plenty of power.
