What are you being serious?! The American automakers are facing incredibly strong competition from European and Asian manufacturers. It's about damn time the American companies started working together and sharing technology!!

This isn't the 1970's anymore...American car manufacturers should do whatever they can to stay in business and beat out the competition. If Ford and Chevy are working together to build a 10 speed transmission, I want to know why the hell dodge isn't onboard!

i know dodge have the 8 speed already on the chargers
and Chrysler and Land Rover both said they have the 9 speed coming out soon for their cars

A 10 spd trans sounds pretty useless to me. More gears for the computer to hunt through....yippie.

100% AGREE!!!! I would love to see US auto makers turn the tables on the foreign manufacturers!
I don't give a crap if they come out with Chevord Camarastang if it will beat the competition!!!!!!!
I am sick of all my non car enthusiast friends running to the honda/toyota/nissan dealer.

We just bought a 2013 Ford Focus. That transmission takes a lot to get used to - it's an auto with a "computer controlled clutch". If you slow down to anywhere under 20, then step on the gas again, it feels like it's almost going to stall out.

On the other hand, we ARE getting between 38-42 mpg on a regular basis...

And that's what it's all about. With the fuel economy standards coupled with safety standards (read: additional weight), keeping those RPMs as low as possible is the name of the game. Glad to see the domestic two working together and it should be fun to see how it turns out.
