All Wheel Drive Cars

I've always like Audi for it's AWD, which does very well in the snow.

I haven't seen a lot of reviews yet for the Cadillac ATS and its AWD system. I like GM products overall, but I'm not sure if the AWD system on the Cadillac really even compares to what's on the Audis. Of course, with the Audi you will pay a little more.

On the other side of the coin, the ATS has Magnetic Ride Control and -might- be as good or a better handling car.

For a similar cost to the highest end Cadillac, you'd have to drop a lot of options on the Audis...so I'm really not sure how they compare if you use the same price point between the two cars (ie: a6 lower end car to top of the line Cadillac).

Basically, I'm looking for other peoples thoughts on AWD cars...

I know about Subaru's, but wouldn't consider getting one myself. Not really designed for someone my size.

Actually, the Subaru Outbacks are roomy and pretty nice. I was TAD to George, Washington for a month one winter. The group I was with had an Outback wagon and a Trailblazer AWD. The Subaru did a lot better then the Chevy.

Of the choices you listed, I'd go with the Audi. You can also get the Infinity G37 in an AWD still, I believe.

I have a Mazdaspeed6 and can tell you AWD is a lot of fun and great for places with all four seasons. My car is deceptively big on the inside and would fit anyone south of Shaq-size.

really wish they would have given the Speed3 with the AWD option... I fit in there fairly well, but it's still a little on the small side

I've always wanted to find a chargers 5.7 AWD drivetrain and find a way for it to go into my new yorker. That would be so much fun.

Preference would be car, not truck/SUV. Though I was also looking at the Audi Q5 as a start if I wanted to go that direction.

Basically, The Sonic I have now is my daily driver, and before that I had my SS and an Impala which I sold. My goal has always been to get into an AWD car for my daily driver at some point. And, over the years...that target has always loosely been an Audi A6/S6 type style. I'm more interested in gas milage with a V6 instead of a V8 for this purpose.

The ATS fits the bill nicely, to be honest. I just haven't really read anything yet that compares its AWD system to others, with just one review saying it was a little iffy in the Snow.

I also was considering something like the AWD charger as well. It'd be nice to have a DD that's a little on the comfortable side...which Audi & Cadillac offer.

I was given a brief demo of the ATS AWD system at the Chicago Auto Show. They had a course set up where anyone could sign up and drive one outside the building.

They laid down mats of soap and water on the ground alternating side to side along a line so the wheel on a mat and without traction help shifting diagonally. The guy riding a long told me to stop on the first set of mats (2 tires diagonally on them, 2 on pavement), and told me to floor it and hold it there down the track. The system did a great job routing torque...hardly any wheel spin at all, and the car went straight down the track without any steering adjustments necessary.

Also, I just drove about a mile in this car, but even just from that, I can tell that if they can carry over the behind the wheel, seat of the pants feeling of the ATS into the Camaro once it changes to that platform, then the 6th gen Camaro is really going to be something great.

I prefer RWD.

And summer only tires like the Camaro SS.

I believe BMW offers AWD in some of there sedans also.

335x are sick cars, as far as euro cars. I have an evo the ultimate in awd.
Just not a luxury car, I would reccomend the g37x sedan.
It would blow the doors off a awd charger.
Awd systems is amazing in the g.
