Sorry to hear Rick. Hope it all gets fixed to your satisfaction. No videos for me tonight. I'll probably be up 'till midnight doing notes from my busy workday. :( Later crew.

So many songs to choose from ... but instead of winding folks up with a rocking tune right before bed, will kick it back for a relaxing tune tonight ...

With the long pause there with no activity, I thought that Sting may have put everyone to sleep!
Today I played around with Plasti-Dip on my set of 45th wheels that I had bought last summer. I had been looking for a decent deal on a set back when they first came out with the idea of painting them (the idea I had was similar to what LBM eventually did with hers!) Using Plasti-Dip is allowing me to try out different schemes (since I am fairly "tactile", I like to see and touch things before I buy). I spent the afternoon getting the wheels cleaned up and prepped, but as the clouds and wind rolled in, only had time to to mask one wheel (which probably was for the best) before relocating to the garage to spray. Looking at a few options, and would love y'all's input. Please note that in the pictures, I am aware of many missed spots of Plasti-Dip coverage. Also, the wheel is not mounted on the car (it is actually about a foot in front of the stock wheel) so the lighting on the tire is brighter, and you can see the stock wheel through the 45th. Option 1 - black on center of spokes and outer edge of rims, leaving the outer edges of the spokes polished: ![]() I liked the idea of just the polished highlights, and have had a club mate state that he loves this setup. It may be too much black ... the rim and tire kinda blends together with less definition (could be mitigated with a pinstripe of an accent color around the edge of rim?) Option 2 - Black for center of the spokes only, the rest remaining the polished silver: ![]() The black spokes on the 45th are contoured all the way to the edge of the rim. If the Plasti-Dip is stopped short of the wheel edge, up close it might look odd having the color stop while the spoke itself continues. Option 3 - no pictures because I thought of this setup later, would be a reverse image of Option 1 with Black only on the outer edges of the spokes and across the center of the hub (except Chevy logo - polished) with the rest of the wheel remaining polished. I may mock this up tomorrow if the wind and temps cooperate. Option 4 - Transfer the tires to my stock wheels, sell the 45th wheels and find another full set of wheels that I like already painted up and skip all this BS! Any input is welcomed! Praise or Bash, I want honesty!

Andy, of these 2 I like the first, but now that you mention the 3rd option I'm wondering if I'd like that one better? It is hard isn't it. I'm very visual like you. I had to have someone photoshop mine while I was waiting because I was so anxious.
I am really sleepy. I got my notes done around 11:30. it is chilly, dreary, scattered showers & windy today. I guess it is a good thing yesterday was busy as sometimes folks don't show up on rainy days and the rest of the week is supposed to be rainy. I just hope I can keep my notes caught up better today. I need my sleep. Have a good day crew.

I like the second one.... it goes really well with the silver car!! Do the bowtie in black, and it will be perfect!!! I just love the 45th wheels, don't you??

I like #2 the best. Of course a fourth option is that you could give them to me. They'd look good on Lightning!!

Good morning all!
I would like option 2 without going into the outer rim.....just cover the spoke insert.

Once I get the wind back in my sails I'll be back to stir the pot some more.

Does the bad crap ever end ? First somewhat being forced into early retirement, then because my 12 year daughters heart races at times the doctor recommended an ekg. Now on March 7 we have an appointment at Penn State children's hospital. Depending on the outcome , I may tell my company I changed my mind about retirement and wait to get the rif.
In the last couple on months we spent almost 3 grand on dog repairs. No money for Camaro stuff of or my rc cars. Olivia's on the left , mine on the right. :( |
