Since GM owns 50% of VM Motori, I wonder if they have a version of this engine also coming soon to the Silverado/Sierra trucks or is this the push for them to finally release the baby 4.5 duramax V8 diesel instead.

If Gm does do a 4.5 duramax it will cost too damn much for most people that want one to afford since the current 6.6 is like a 9 grand option on top of a trucks price. IM sure a duramax 4.5 will be prolly 5 grand to a price of a 1500 too steep imo. I think since the 3.0 diesel for the Ram is also used in the grand cherokee and maybe Jeep wranglers they can offer it at a lower price prolly a 3k option over a gas motor.

At first i thought this was a neat idea, but then if you are going diesel, why not just get the 2500 and the cummins?

Unless you tow on a daily basis, the half ton diesel is more of a gimmick anyway.

If the numbers on this stay the same, why not just get the F150 with an ecoboost. 365 hp, 420 tq, for less money and cheaper fuel.

SMH at GM and Ford

Once again Dodge is setting the pace in the truck segment - tomorrow Dodge will announce the 1500 will get a diesel engine. GM and Ford threw away the Cummins deal and now after years of promise and then taking it back GM will once again let another brand step ahead with what the segment lacks

Taxes us the major reason - for those who occasionally tow and do not need a heavy duty is another. Plus with gasoline getting so high and EPA regs getting so rough in the segment then diesel is the correct answer for both these needs.
